How do I transfer photos from my computer to my phone?

I downloaded the android filetransfer app to my Mac then used USB cable to connect to my Droid turbo phone. I dragged & dropped photos from my computer into the Pictures folder under the Android File Transfer folder that appears on my computer screen, but when I disconnected and tried to find these photos on my phone, there is nothing listed in gallery or camera. What am I missing?

Welcome to Android Central! Where is the Android File Transfer folder on your phone--is it in Internal Storage or the external SD card? Use a file manager app on your phone (like ES File Explorer, if your phone doesn't have on preinstalled) to look in that folder--do you see the photos there? Make sure there isn't a file called ".nomedia" as well. .nomedia files tell the system to ignore that folder when scanning for media to add to the Gallery.
