How do I use an SD card for video on my Moto Z2 Play?

I want to use my Moto Z2 Play to record the highest quality video as possible and not loose frames while doing so. Right off the bat I'm thinking I should insert a decent SD card with a high mb/s speed. Provided that this approach is correct, how can I ensure that the camera will write high quality video to a high quality inserted SD card?

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Camera app, tap Menu, then look in the settings for an option to select the default storage location. Make sure SD is selected.
