How do you change your texting icon?

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S9+ yesterday and it's a lot different from my old S6. One thing I can't figure out how to change is my texting icon. I'm stuck texting as the donut.

I went into my contacts and my profile picture was indeed the animated donut, but no matter what I change my profile picture to, or even delete it, the icon next to my text messages is still the darn donut. (And yes, I remembered to save after making changes.)

I think what you want is changed in the Samsung account settings.

So in the regular settings click your picture top right, that will goto Samsung settings, then click your picture again and choose another for your profile.

I finally figured it out, thanks! I did change my Samsung profile picture and at first that didn't help, but when I went back to my contacts and tried to share my profile, I discovered that it was still showing the donut even though I'd removed it from my profile picture. I scrolled through the options there and chose my Samsung picture, and now I'm not texting as a donut any more!

I wish I had the option not to share a picture at all, but at least I was able to change it to something generic (a picture of a lavender field, chosen because I got the lavender colored phone).

Only YOU can see that image. It doesn't get sent when you text.

Go to apps in your toolbar.
Select accounts and cloud
Select Samsung account
Select the profile image at the top and select delete.
Completely close and reopen messages app.
