How do you disable the WiFi Networks Available notification?

The phone vibrates and brings up a notification every time I pass by an open network. This happens very often. I have seen that on the Samsung S7 and on stock Android, the option to disable it is some combination of
Settings, WiFi, Advanced, Notify when public networks available, OFF
The option is not listed in the Advanced WiFi settings in the Galaxy S8.
I got the phone unlocked from Samsung directly and have applied the latest update.

You need to go to settngs> connections > wifi> advance> click network notifications to off. You will see advance at the top of the Wi-Fi screen and network notifications toward the too of the advance screen. If none of this is there, could you post some screens?

I'm not sure why my phone doesn't have that option in the wifi advanced settings. It was bought directly from the Samsung Canada store. I don't see why they would remove it.

I only have Smart network switch, Manage networks, WPS push button, WPS PIN entry, Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep, Install network certificates, Wi-Fi control history.

That is odd. Maybe they have it in another section like under notifications? Did you check all the sections under wifi? Like the control history area or any of the areas? Worse case maybe contact your carrier or Samsung. Could be a regional thing.

I’m new to android recently getting the s8+. Good phone and I’m liking the ability to customise to suite my preferences. This issue of hotspot WiFi notifications is annoying. I don’t need to be asked to connect to every hotspot I am close to. I’m on a 100gb data plan for starters. The option to disable notifications is not there in the Samsung s8. I am running adhell to switch Bixby to google assistant which works well. This can also stop system processes if anyone can tell me which one is popping up these notifications? I suspect it’s also possible to disable from advanced notifications menu if you view the system processes. The key is knowing which android process to stop or disable notifications if anyone knows?

I have a Galaxy S7 Active, and mine is the same way. I have tried disabling wifi notifications but still get the annoying, interrupting sign-in to WiFi network notification. I have went into every setting looking for a way to stop it. I have looked at forums but nothing they suggest seems to apply to my phone, maybe because of old posts. I've just had to accept it as an annoying part of life. FIX IT ANDROID!

It's not an Android problem. Its an AT&T problem I think. I have an unlocked S8 and the setting is where @uncreativeartist pointed to and it works on my device at least.

Same here on my unlocked. I've used several unlocked AT&T phones in the past though, and thought that setting was available. Could be wrong. Actually, might be the setting that turned off automatically connecting to AT&T Hotspot that I'm thinking of.

I got curious about possibly being an AT&T issue and broke out my old unlocked AT&T Note 4. Under WiFi>advanced...both "network notification" on/off and auto-connect to AT&T hotspots or open network...on/off, available.
weird that those options wouldn't be available on the S8 even on a carrier phone. Anyway, glad I have the option to turn off those notifications on my unlocked. That would be ridiculously annoying.

I agree it would be annoying. Carriers messing with the stock features of Android is also annoying. That's one of the many reasons I only buy unlocked devices now.

This is my first truly unlocked phone. Have previously purchased carrier unlocked. I will also continue to purchase a truly unlocked phone from this point forward.

I'm not sure why my phone doesn't have that option in the wifi advanced settings …

On my Note 9 it's ᎓

・ pull down notification panel, long-press Wi-Fi
・ tap 3-dot menu ( ⋮ ), upper-right corner
・ choose "Advanced"
・ turn off "Network notification" ( fourth option
down on the Note 9 )

Before the Note 9 I had the S8+ … can't remember if it was exactly the same thing, but it was similar. Both devices were/are with Rogers, btw.
