How do you maintain your Nexus 6P's speed?

I like to wipe my cache once every 1-2 week(s) to keep the storage fresh and perhaps maintain the performance, though I have noticed that my 6P is slower than when I first got it (not a huge surprise).

What do you do to maintain your device's performance? Do you have any tips for someone who's phone has become slower over time?

Is there anything that could substitute a factory reset and provide a similar impact?

Wipe my cache sometimes, uninstall clutter, restart every now and then. I haven't had to reset yet.

Wipe cache + end programs + reboot only if speed really gets low (once every 2 months estimatedly).
Wipe cache partition after each update (even security patches).

I honestly havent really noticed any slowdown on my 6p, and all I do is keep up on uninstalling apps I dont ever use and reboot it on occasion. Honestly if it werent for the fact that verizon may get the new nexus and I have a free work upgrade waiting I probably wouldnt even be remotely interested in upgrading.

I went high maintenance mode. Deleted a whole bunch of images, videos, cleared the cache again and now it's running as smooth as before.

I feel the same way. Other than clearing out the recent apps (mostly due to my being anal about my phone )I rarely wipe out my cache memory. My 6p runs fine.

Wipe the cache is a big waste of time. It "never" fixes any issues but I keep doing it because of the advice here. Just like in W10 "sfc /scannow" another useless fix that does nothing.

As a sysadmin, I can tell you quite honestly that SFC /scannow has saved me from reimaging a machine on more than one occasion. It's just not an end all cure for everything.

Same is true for clearing cache. There are some instances where it is helpful, but most of the time it's completely precautionary.

-Clear app cache
-Clear cache partition
-Restart
-Uninstall unnecessary apps (install use for whatever then uninstall)

Meant to say for a big OS update like 7.0 a factory reset and full re-config fixed many speed and stability issues.

To be honest , after installing and changing things around on my phone a little bit regarding the official release of Nougat, my battery is fine, and so is the speed on my phone. I'll tell you though. I absolutely love having more screen real estate due to changing up my screen DPI settings more space for icons in the dock bar is great!

The slowest thing on my 6P is the camera. Other than that it still runs smooth. Faster than my S7 as a matter of fact and my S7 has an extra gig of Ram over it
