Does anyone have a system for disabling Backup Assistant so it stays dead? An app that kills it every time it pops up? A tasker task? It keeps coming back!!

Thanks!

yes you can verizon tech support told me to go into settings and tap applications find backup assistant plus and clear its cache and data and also uncheck all the items you can set it to back up and you will not be bothered by the pesky backup assistant plus no more! It was driving me nuts too!

Such a worthless app -- Google already syncs everything for me, why do I need it?!?

It never bothers me ever, except for when I first setup the phone, but of course I've never done anything other than skip that part of the setup so maybe that's why.

The only reason is so that Verizon can claim they have a better back up system than anyone else. They can claim their backup system can even cross platforms.

Yes, to us, who shall never change to iAnything... worthless.

I thought that was one of the apps you could disable in App manager. I have it frozen now, but before I rooted the other day I remember re-enabling it so I could install the ROM. I would try going to Settings ->application manager -> selecting backup assistant, then uninstall updates and disable app.

Re: How do you track down, corner and KILL Verizon Backup Assista

I forgot to mention I am stock. I don't have any plans to root. I used to root my phones but I don't want to get into it now. I am pretty happy with stock + Apex.

I skipped it during a factory reset and now it runs every couple days... but also asks me for my login information, which I don't provide. Somehow it uploaded a bunch of stuff somewhere along the way (maybe before I reset it).

It's annoying. Useless. They don't even give you enough space to do much with anyway.

I am trying the clear cache method right now. It's been 24 hours and I haven't been bothered (yet).

That's why I said you should be able to disable the app in application manager. No root needed. Before I rooted I had plenty of app disabled, which stopped them from running. Give it a try.

I went to the features section of the Verizon website and unchecked backup assistant plus.

After signing in to Verizon, try this link. It should take you where you need to go.

If not....

From the initial sign on page

under the section labeled "I want to...", Plan, change features.

Disable backup assistant plus

Seems to have done the trick for me....

On the Features page, all I see is the ability to add Backup Sucks, but I had called Verizon and told them I did not want it running.

I have never been able to disable it, that option is grayed out. I can only force stop.

I also can only clear cache and force stop (from my phone), no ability to disable - grayed out.

Well, when you do root, get Titanium and freeze the app

Just don't start it. Don't let the Verizon tech with the McDonald's fingers in your OS! I am not a fan off that app. I am sure it serves many well though. It takes a little route through click hell to disable. Should just be able to turn it off "one click," Like most everything else.

Yes Verizon does charge if you need to buy more storage. I received a text letting me know I was at 80% capacity and I should buy more at so much a month. I disabebled it.

I used to be in this situation (I don't know if it's the situation described above):

Connecting my Motorola Razr M Android phone to my Windows PC via USB cable made Google Chrome browser automatically go to the Backup Assistant web page at Verizon, interrupting whatever I was browsing. Big pain.

To stop this, I went into Windows Control Panel and uninstalled Motorola Device Manager.

Problem solved.
