How does everyone like their Note?

Got it last-minute for a 2 week business trip because my iPhone 7 Plus died and I wasn't going to get another 7 Plus at 1100 bucks (8 and X not released yet). Was a bit scared I'd have issues with it after having tried the European version if the S8+ half a year ago and having encountered massive performance issues. The N8 however is a beast and never slows down at all - it's just very fluid and pleasant to use. Plus been using live messages and smart selection on a daily basis. Not super impressed by the Zagg glass protector as it diminishes the touch screen performance.

Don't know if I'll get the iPhone X now, which had been my plan. Depends on whether Samsung pushes security, and OS updated in a timely manner as I never got a single update for the S8+ and patch level was two months behind already when I bought it

I just got mine today. Haven't really got to mess with it as I've been busy. The first thing I did was change my wallpaper. I could not stand seeing those stars. I kept seeing it as dust on the screen that I wanted to wipe off.

I had a S7 edge that I sold because it stopped charging correctly. Wet port error showed up out of nowhere even though I didn't submerge the phone in water. Sold it and went back to my old Windows Lumia 1520 that I love, but hate that they don't get app support. So being back on Android with all the apps I NEED is great, but everything still feels the same (so far) since the last I had the S7 edge.

I have question for the guys who have got their phone. I only going to receive the Note 8 and the wireless charger. The memory card still says Pre-order. do you have any idea, when am I going to receive the memory card?

Wouldn't know - I was supposed to get a free Dex with it but never did either

Only just got mine about an hour ago so only really been doing basic setup and updates but what a difference, my note 4 looks kinda dated next to it

I am absolutely loving It! I've spent most of last night setting it up and I was blown away by how fast it finished setting up! I cannot wait to play with this more and learn more about what it is to own a Note. This one's my first one!

You know that Google photos will show your photos and videos that are backed up on drive right?

What exactly are you not a fan of on Google photos? Now you can archive pics and have it open directly in the album tab I don't have any complaints about it
I did, but since I don't use any Google services for photos, I completely forgot about that.

I don't like Google Photos because I'm a crotchety dude nearing middle age who doesn't like new things. Lol. I like barebones simplicity when it comes to photo storage and organization. I want to create an album folder and put some pics in it. Then I want to create a different folder and put different pics in it. And that's it. I don't want a bunch of additional albums or groupings based on faces or moments or a timeline or location or any of the additional services or feature that are offered. Simple photo storage. That's all I want/need.

Also, since I'm an Office 365 subscriber, I've got 1TB of cloud storage which blows away the 15GB I get from Google.

I had the Note 7 (my first Note) and had it for only 2 weeks and loved it. This is a step forward and a step back at the same time. The one really annoying thing about it that I hope the find a way around in the future is how difficult it is to unlock when it's on my wireless charger (whether it's laying flat or standing up at an angle, but mostly when it's laying flat). With my S6 edge, Note 7 or S7 edge, I could unlock it with my pointer finger when it's laying down. Now with the finger print scanner on the back and iris scanner having to be a foot away from your face, I have to pick it up every time to unlock it. Sometimes I want to check notifications without having to lift it up, but scroll and glance down. I know you can enable smart unlock so I wouldn't have to unlock it, but it currently only works (to my knowledge) when it's connected to a bluetooth device. They should add a software patch to enable it when it's on trusted wifi networks as well. Bixby is cool so far, but that Bixby button is driving me nuts... I can't tell you how many times a day it's accidentally pressed. Samsung needs to send a software patch to allow you to change that to a different command as well. Everything else seems great.
You can setup a 4 digit pin to unlock it in conjunction with your fps.. I use fps, pin, face recognition and iris scanner.

Right, true... I have this set up as well, but the ease of scanning your finger without anything else is gone.

Lol ok I understand that... I'm not quick to use new things either.

I didn't like photos at first but after I actually used it I grew to love it... U can disable all that stuff that u said u don't like too lol

With that being said I'm not trying to get you to switch, I was just inquiring as to why u don't like it. OaN: there's an unlimited storage option along with the 15gb

I'm still on the fence between this one and the V30. How are you liking the N8 so far?

I was going to upgrade from my Note 4 to Note 7 but didnt because of the battery fiasco. My note note4 had died so I was using an iphone 7. now coming back to Note 8 feels like like upgrading to Business class from economy

You can set a location to keep it unlocked. For instance, I have it set for when I'm home to never lock – there is no need to lock my phone while I'm in my house. :)

LOVE my note 8 with ONE HUGE EXCEPTION. I cannot get the LED to flash for notifications if I have the notification sound set to silent. If i put a sound in, it works, but the whole idea of the LED is so i don't have to hear the sounds. I read on another forum where someone said you can download a silent ringtone, with 1 second of silence, and put that in, but I can't find out how to put that in the notifications, it only shows up in the ringtones. Does anyone know how to fix this FRUSTRATING issue? Thanks, Big Pooch

yes, i would rather have the button back on the front, so that i wouldn't have to doubleclick the front, then put my finger on the back. Whomever thought this was a good idea should be castrated.

Typing with the styles , nice phone now im paranoid about scratching or dropping it for a $1,000 I don't want to make mistakes
I do find it a bit heavy to hold
