How Does Wifi Work?

The watch has wifi capability but how does it work. Like if my phone is in the car and the watch is in my house does the watch independently connect to my secure wifi? How? It has never asked me to fill in password. Has anybody gotten the wifi thing to work? How do you connect? Does phone have to be in same wifi network as watch? Exactly what scenario is it useful? Thanks so much.

You would have to add the network through your watch under settings->wifi to make it work. I haven't really used it as I haven't needed it so I'm not sure if it works over the internet or just the local wifi... I guess the scenario this would be useful, is if you are charging your phone in one room that is outside of bluetooth range so you could still get alerts from your phone to your watch and possibly even take phone calls through the watch (not sure on this part).
