How is Sprint?

Their plan seems to be cheaper than what I'm getting on Verizon and I ACTUALLY get unlimited EVERYTHING unlike Verizon. Can anyone give me honest (no bashing) opinions?

Thanks,

Price is cheaper, but for many the quality of signal isn't as good as with Verizon. It really all depends on your location and the areas you use your phone in. Some people have no problems and get great 3g/4g coverage with a strong/fast download/upload speeds and others complain of really slow speeds and bad coverage.

I have seen both sides of the coin in my 6 plus years with Sprint. Around my home its not too bad, occasionally it does get slow and bad signal. The other day I went to a more populated area full of shopping centers, malls, businesses and I saw the fastest 4g speeds ever on Sprint. Pulled downloads using 4g in the 9 meg download range and uploads at about 1.3 meg.

Otherwise, I believe Sprint is like any other company... Customer service varies and like any carrier they may or may not have the "latest and greatest" devices on the market.

Personally I stick it out with Sprint for the better price and can afford the occasional lack of speed or signal issues. Next year it could be AT & T or T Mobile sitting on top of the mountain for overall customer satisfaction, it seems like its a constant revolving ball that goes round and round and everyone gets their time and the top.

I have had sprint for about 3 years, moved over from t-mobile. i never noticed a difference in service between the two "budget" carriers, my cell phone generally "just works" but i live in a fairly urban/suburban area. if you are in a rural area i think verizon would be better. in every city i've been in and interstate i have driven on i have had native sprint service, and i think you would roam to verizon towers (for free!) where a sprint tower is not available. so basically by switching to sprint you still have the same coverage as verizon if you need it, but at a much lower price.

Customer service has improved quite a bit in the last few years I have no problems at all. 9 years and counting

The customer service sucks bad, they are very rude and lazy.

My mind ain't right

Right, I mean they only ranked number one last time in. Customer service.

Anyway, it really depends on your area. Customer service has become top notch and has been recognized for it, but coverage will still be determined by your location.
I'm in GA and I drive everywhere in the state. I never have a problem, but I am mostly on highways. That said even in rural areas, until I get to south GA I don't roam much.

Everyone will have their own opinions, based on personal experiences. I have been with Sprint for overe 11 years. I have been having some problems lately with my service. I went through a couple CS reps who were not helpful, and then found a couple that were extremely helpful, and have made me a satisfied customer again.

It is like anything else. It depends on what you want, and what you need. Sprint has the least expensive "everything" plan. I think it is the only one left. Eventually, that will probably disappear, just like it has on the other carriers. I am in Iowa, and travel a decent amount, and have never really had any major issues with service since I had Sprint.

Some people have problems, and they "hate" Sprint. Some "love" Sprint. I consider myself a loyal customer if the provider meets a couple reasonable requirements:

Good service
Fair price

I have had both, so I stick with Sprint.

My opinion, I'm sure others will disagree.

I've been with Sprint for 14 years now. While I've partly stuck with them because of simple laziness on my part, I've also not seen any other carrier's plans come close in price and services. I'm easily in the top 5% for data use on my phone and I've never been throttled or charged extra for heavy data use. That wouldn't happen elsewhere.

I've been with them for 6 years and had some service (signal, 3g) issues for a couple months last spring , but other than that, they've been great. Customer service has been great also, unlike ATT and Verizon when I had service with them....flat out horrible.

I've been lurking and waiting for this stupid Motorola Bionic to come out, not really thinking that my discounted bill will be around $89.00/month. On Sprint, an Android phone will cost me around $66.00/month. As far as I can tell, coverage will be fine living in a major U.S. city, so I am having a very hard time justifying staying with Verizon. I am not a huge talker, or web surfer but heavy txt'er. I hope more people chime in here, because I can deal with sub-par data and customer service (I think).

Been on sprint for 8 years, really for the price can not complain as its cheaper than anyone else. Granted the internet speeds are much slower compared to Verizon and att in out area, I;m hoping the big upgrades they are planning change that here, especially if they are going to get the iphone, I'm sure they will want to speeds to be on par with the other providers .

I shopped this year, and decided to stay with Sprint. I get adequate service, and get free roaming on Verizon when there isn't Sprint coverage. Their customer service has treated me very well over the past couple of years. Actually, their on-line service sucks, but both their phone service and the service I've gotten at the nearby Sprint shop have been excellent.

When I was still lusting after the Pre 3, I decided to stay with Sprint, and I gave up on webOS and bought a Photon. I'm pretty happy with that decision.

I just like to throw this out there today. I have had not sprint service for the last 3 days at work. My airave even went out yesterday. (Boradband and GPS were fine).

Thanks to the hurricane. However, Verizon has FULL service every where from what I've seen. And I especially love how I'll roam for 3 seconds and then go to an X. Meanwhile 3 seconds before I was roaming on Verizon and someone here has Verizon and there service is fine. So what's the point of roaming? I get no phone calls. I get no SMS. I can't make a phone call. My data is off and on when I do have service. And I mean on like 1% of the day.

As soon as my contract is up I'm switching to Verizon. I've had it with them. And don't say I shouldn't judge because of the hurricane. Even T-Mobile has service all over.

I know these threads tend to end up being bash the carrier. but here's my honest take on sprint: I loved sprint when I got my evo 4g on release day but as of now, I'm waiting for the next nexus phone to come out hopefully on tmo so I can gladly pay the etf to leave.

I live in the St. Louis, MO area and phone calls/texts are fine. The problem is the data speeds. I get an average of 300kbps down and 600 up on 3g. 4g is about 2mbps down and 1 up. I never use my 4g because it sucks the life out of the battery leaving it on and it's a pain toggling it on just to download something real quick.

My 3g speeds were about 1.5mbps down when I first got the phone. now sprint has added a lot more customers and the speeds have took a dump. just look around on AC here and you'll see a lot of people saying the same thing about slow speeds that use to be much faster about a year ago.

The reason I'm switching is because tmo is now cheaper for me and I have a lot of coworkers on tmo and att. We have put our phones to the test in data speeds and their "fake 4g" hspa+ pulls the same if not faster speeds than sprint's wimax does. and it's always on for them. no toggling it off and on.

The other thing about the midwest is I head out into the rural areas to go camping and floating a lot. we also have a lot of wineries in MO. as soon as I leave the highway my service is gone while my att, verizon and tmo friends all have service almost the entire time..... yeah, sprint just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

if you live in the midwest ask around before switching!

I've been with Sprint since roughly '98. I'll admit Sprint hasn't always been the best but they have improved drastically in the last 6-7 years. If I ever have a problem even though it may not get fixed the first time, it does get fixed to my satisfaction and usually they throw in something extra like some money off my bill for the month for the trouble. It all depends on who you talk to and how you talk to them. I have always been cordial and professional with them but at the same time let them know that I'm frustrated with the situation and usually they are the ones to offer some kind of deal to me.

As far as the coverage. Just like any other carrier it's all based on location, location, location. I live in Indy and have very little trouble with getting a signal. One of the things Sprint did right along time ago was billed up around cities and along highways and then expand out from there. If you do have a problem with getting a signal from inside from oh say your home. You can always get one of the Airaves (mini cell tower for your house) and again if you talk to the right people they will send you one for free.

Finally bang for your buck. Sprint has excelled in this area for years as far as I'm concerned. I mean what other carrier can you get unlimited everything for about $70 single and $140 for family plan; not forgetting that if you buy a smartphone you pay an extra $10 per line. That in my opinion is one of the best things going for Sprint and I hope it doesn't change anytime soon.

Yup, the unlimited data is where its at, paying 260 for 5 lines with unlimited data, cant beat that at all, and the free mobile to mobile

Well said. It's been about 8 years since I left Sprint. Service was fine in the city limits, but spotty at best off road. Customer service was bad though. I have no problem giving Sprint another 2 years starting tomorrow.

I am in this same boat. Been with ATT for years and am considering a switch. My wife has a Xoom so we are on Verizon for data, which works perfectly by the way, however our ATT service is horrid around our home.

I would really like to go with the Galaxy SII, however I have no idea what Sprint's service is like around here?

I am in South East Volusia County Florida. Anyone else in this area with Sprint that can comment on their data/voice service? I would certainly love to save a few bucks on my service.

I know Verizon works well here, however it is bit more pricey and I love the unlimited plans that Sprint offers.

Sprint offer a try before you buy? lol

Well the best way to find out what kind of reception you get in your area is to actually go to Cell Phones, Mobile Phones & Wireless Calling Plans from Sprint and click on the link for coverage maps which is located under the shop tab on the top of the main screen. From there plug in your location and you can zoom into your hearts content to see what kind of coverage you have. Good luck to ya.
