Wondered how good the heart rate monitor is on the 2nd Gen. I have the 1st Gen, and find that the heart rate monitor only really works well in general use, or when still. If I try to use it whilst training, it doesn't pick up my rate.

I believe this might be down to the green light not actualy being that bright as it is fairly enclosed. My partner has a Microsoft Band, and when the light is on with that, it lights up the room, and takes a heart rate even when training hard

Looking at the pics of the 2nd Gen, the heart rate sensor seems to be more open, although not actually seen it lit

How are people finding the 2nd Gen sensor?

Works well enough to know when you're involved in some sort of "heart activity." As for actual values, not really sure, though the numbers follow my level of exertion.

On the 1st Gen, I just find that it is not bright or sensitive enough when working out (Spin, Weights etc), it just cannot continuall read my heart. Was hoping that the 2nd Gen might have improved to the level where it could be used as a workout tracker ... but possibly it still can't

The only workout these things really detect are walking and running. Other than that, they detect elevated heart rate over a period of time as "heart activity," which V2 does very well for me.
