How many of you guys restart or turn off your phone?

I only shut mine off if I need to. I think 3 times since I got it on launch day.

I keep mine plugged in at night and on for my alarm clock. I suppose I could unplug it if I wake up and see it's fully charged. It doesn't use much battery at night maybe 1% an hour. But old phones that didn't have this great battery, it's become a habit to charge it all night.

Every two or three days just 'coz........... but still cannot connect via bluetooth to my car's phone system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great idea. PC's should also be rebooted once per day. I have Google Play Service running at too high a level and will reboot now to stop it. Thanks for the advice.

I just held the Power key until it offered me the options of: Shut Down, Restart. I used Shut Down and then turned it back on. What is the difference between Shut Down and Restart, by the way?

Usually just reboot when I run into any problems. Only problems I have had is not receiving calls (get a voicemail notification but no missed calls) and not able to make a call. Reboot seemed to fix this and it has only happened a couple of times. Other than those few instances, I only restart when I think about it, maybe once a week. I leave my phone plugged in and turned on overnight (no UPSM). Will be using wireless charging when the official cover is available.

I shut my phone down just about every night. Only exception is when I am travelling and I use it for an alarm. In that case, I will leave it on and plugged in overnight.

I restart once a night before plugging in & then going to bed.

So when leaving plugged in all night, does it just stop charging when 100%. And doesn't harm battery. I wonder as when I charge it during the day, when it is charged, says to unplug.

Probably a few times a day on my note 3. If I don't my data speeds sometimes slows. I also pull the sim occasionally. Of course my usage is not typical.

I charge overnight and have had no problems with any of my batteries.

What Golfdriver said is the same for me as well :).

Wasn't there phones that had alarm that would go off even if it was turned off? (the phone I mean)

I rest my case.

Restarting fixed my Google Play battery problem. In UPSM I was losing 2% per hour but after a shut down and restart after three hours in UPSM there was no battery loss at all.

The entire internet knows your UPSM experience by now. USPM can be useful for sure. You have an odd love affair with it though.

The point was I was losing 2% per hour within UPSM. Looking at the battery usage without UPSM it was mostly Google Play. A shutdown and power up fixed the problem and I went 3 hours with zero battery loss.

By the way, is the Restart option after holding the power key the same as a factory reset?

Frankly, I wish they had UPSM on my Kindles. There I just go into Airplane mode when not using them. I'm sure its probably not as effective as UPSM.

No No No, not even by a long shot.

To add my two cents... :)

I typically only restart every other day (sometimes more often depending on use) to swap out for a fresh battery (always have a spare at the ready kept charged via a Samsung external battery charger).

With a non-removable battery though, such as a tablet (or if not swapping out batteries), I'll usually only restart after a full charge, just for good measure to ensure it operates at peak performance. Because sometimes Google pushes out updates behind the scenes for the Play Store or Google Play Services that can cause odd behavior or cause performance issues until restarting.

Bottom line; these devices boot up so fast now, I don't see a reason anymore to fear a shutdown/reboot or in trying to keep them up for extended periods of time. :)
