How many people already gave up on Thunderbolt

I'd like to give up out of frustration (esp since last night multiple VZW employees said it was coming today), but I don't see a better phone getting here sooner for VZW. BUT if it gets pushed back again I think I'll be able to wait for the next better phone after the Bolt. Heck I waited this long for the Bolt. Why not wait another few months for something like a dual core snapdragon.

OMG its 2 weeks later than original date (assuming it does launch on the 24th). Short attention spans lol :)

If I don't here anything by the 24th from VZ, I won't be getting it. I am hoping that Samsung has worked out some issues and will wait for the G2.

If not TB then what? I was going to get a Droid X (this'll be my first Android) but saw the TB was coming soon so decided to wait

I think it's worth the wait. My BlackBerry is working fine (minus web browsing) so I'm not fretting.

I'm not even anxious. I'm just going about my life and when it's released, cool.

Like Chrisy, this will be my first Android...coming over from the Blackberry Storm 1. My phone works fine for the most part, but I'm ready for a change as I'm tired of reseting the device memory 1-2 times a day. I too think it will be worth the wait. So I will continue to patiently, yet anxiously wait.

Everyone in this thread who says they have given up on the device will walk into the Verizon store (when the phone finally launches), go straight to the dummy phone in the store, mess with it for about 5 minutes, then buy it. You know it's going to happen. HTC Thunderbolt will be a monster.

My issue isn't the delay so much as no official acknowledgment for Verizon yet. There is next to no marketing, press releases, blogging, or even mention of it on their website. All I see is more ads for the damn iphlop.

Honestly, my patience is wearing thin and I'm growing skeptical that this will turn out well at all. If they don't stand behind this product, why should I? And frankly, the T-Bolt is already virtually obsolete. With the Atrix coming out and whooping it on the bench for less money, I'm not sure why we are so crazy about the T-bolt anymore...

The HTC TMobile G2? I wasn't aware there was another G2.

Unless you mean the Galaxy S2...

At this point, what do benchmarks prove? 1/10th of a second faster to load up Angry Birds or a webpage? I'd much rather live with a single core that Android knows what do to with than a dual core with gingerbread that should be updated to be able to use "soon"

Allow me to make a list

1. Because in essence the Atrix really isn't all that less money if you want full functionality. The dock is an add'l $100 after a mail in rebate so now you are up to $299 which is $50 more than the seen price for TBolt

2. On top of that if you live in an area where AT&T is crap (which is pretty much everywhere you wanna be) then you are screwed and can enjoy a nice little Edge symbol on your phone that's about the equivalent to dial up

3. AT&T 4G is certainly no LTE (if it's even real 4G--knowing them it's 3G being masked as 4G)

4. AT&T Data plans are ridiculous-- $45 for 4GB? That's fine if you aren't a power user or don't plan to use it off Wifi alot but then doesn't that defeat the purpose? The option of not using it on Wifi?

5. In addition to #4 I've been seeing various stories that if you have unlimited data it will matriculate while others are saying nope it will not

6. Locked bootloader--Thanks MOTOROLA

7. Looking at specs, what's really comparable? Cause all I'm seeing is a 5MP cam and 16GB on board. TBolt comes with 32 microSD off the bat

The only ups I'm seeing is dual core which hasn't been proven faster or useful on a phone yet and GSM carrier for global use. Not to knock your purchase if that's what you want and everyone has individual needs but you did ask why...

VZW seems to always release their phones on Thursdays. I haven't given up on a release this Thursday 2/17, but I am also not getting my hopes up either. If the phone doesn't release this Thursday, then I would expect it to release next Thursday 2/24. Either way, I am fine and will patiently wait.

I'm not going to ATT, but I am starting to wonder how much carrier support this phone is going to see. Big Red appears too busy fellating Apple to worry about their loyal android followers or even their own amazing LTE network. I am disappointed with how this has been handled so far and it is harshing the buzz over the T-bolt to me.

I agree. They release their LTE network way back when. Before any handsets were available and now they are wrapping their arms around the Iphone 4. It does not even support the LTE network. Seems like verizon is moving backwards. The timing of the Iphone was horrible.

I would definitely not worry about this coming Thursday (less than 48 hours away). More than likely plan for the 24th and not this week.

I really don't see the point of view many are ranting about.

Here's the list (I can think of) that have been official statements from HTC or VZW regarding the TBolt.

1) CES 2011: HTC shows off the TBolt. States it's heading to VZW in Q1 2011; so by end of March.

2) Jan 2011: A limited preview page for the TBolt goes up on VZW. Let's you sign up for future updates. States no date range for release.

3) Feb 2011: VZW updates the preview landing page, and starts ad placement all over the internet.

And that's it! What is VZW doing so wrong here? Keep in mind, YOU are choosing to read websites about future and upcoming phone info, before the carriers are officially unveiling them. Rumors, supposed release dates, etc... it's all info being brought to by someone OTHER than VZW / HTC.

All VZW wants to do is make certain their network & the device are solid and ready to go. Create some buzz with well timed ads, and have the phones start selling like crazy a couple weeks later. Buzz too early gets forgotten and/or slows current phone sales.
