How much data am I really using?

I have a 2nd gen Moto E with Verizons monthly plan. My Verizon always shows 0 data use compared with my phone. The two attached images are taken about the same time, I know My Verizon can be a day or two behind but it never shows I've used data. I've asked Verizon but their answer is rather nebulus.

It does seem rather strange. I don't know myself, but I am asking around.

Are you actually looking in the my Verizon app or just the widget? I think on first use you have to sign in.

Also are you prepaid or post paid?

I signed my father up with Verizon Pre-paid service and I have seen the same on his "My Verizon" usage. His plan data used is always zero even though the usage break-down clearly shows usage. It is very annoying. I've told him just to use Android's built in meter for lack of a better option.

When you log in online to your account, does it show the right amount?

Also you can dial #data to get current data usage

Logging in to My Verizon always shows 0 data use. #data shows the same. I am on a monthly pre-paid account.

Went to the Verizon store and the guy there was able to pull up my data and it shows an amount that I have used. When I logged in again it showed zero. He didn't understand and called a tech who again didn't really know but had an answer that neither of us understood. Still it looks like the data shown in settings is the one to go by. I may test it out by using up all the data I have and see what happens. I can add more data if I really need it.
