How much storage space can I use on S5 and how to find and clear what I don't need (outside emulated

My storage space is running low. I've uninstalled the biggest games and checked how much space I have. It says that I have 2.28GB free. So I wanted to see how much is stored in emulated/0/... it ("Drives" app) says 2.43 GB.. All my downloaded apps together aren't bigger than 500MB... It all together makes a bit less than 5.5GB... On a 16GB S5... I was told that user can use 8-9 GB... So where is 2.5-3.5 GB missing? I don't want to do factory reset, I want to clear the things that have eaten up my storage manually. How to do it and how much space is the most I can hope for after doing it? And are "sdcard apps" really on sdcard?

If you look into your settings under "storage", what is reported there for the various items? Can you post a screenshot? What is listed in there under "cache"?

Ok, I think I've found out what's the problem how to solve it and how stupid I am... When I opened App Manager I forgot to sort "All apps" tab by size since I tought that system apps can't be very big.. I was rather focused on "SD card" tab where is the most of downloaded apps which are usually bigger than all others. But now I sorted all the apps by size and realised that around 2 GBs is in the apps that I never or almost never use... G+, Maps, Messenger, Docs, YT, Galaxy apps, Google Drive, Google keyboard etc. Sorry for wasting your time.. Btw, I'd appreciate if anyone can tell me how and where do the apps save their data? Or at least paste a link where I can read about it..? I know for data/, mnt/ and emulated/0/, but is there more of them and what data and how goes which folder? Thanks!

Has anyone noted that things such as music files appear to take up space on the internal memory, even when placed on the SD card? I'm seeing 3.3GB of space being "used" for music on the internal storage, when all my files are on the SD card...I've even searched through the files on the internal memory and found nothing, at least nothing close to 3.3GB.
