How much you think AOD effects battery life?

For me? Certainly not enough to turn it off. My usage is not the same as yours though. The best way to find out how it effects you is to turn it off for a day or two and see if you notice a difference. Asking here is not really going to help. You will get people telling you it drains their battery a ton and to turn it off and then you will get people telling you it has very little effect.

It's better to experiment yourself.

Historically (On S8, S9 and Note) I'd put it at about 1% per hour.

On my S10+ my total use (for everything not just AOD) per hour when the phone is on idle is about 1.5%. Of course not all of this is the AOD

I found it to be somewhere in the 1-2% an hour range - at least with my S8. However, you have to consider that it allows you to avoid waking your phone 50x a day to look at time, check for missed messages/calls, etc.

I (and others) have posted screenshots which indicate AOD uses about 1% every 2 hours on the S10+ (if my math is right).

Personally, I leave it on. If you feel that it's using too much battery, you can set it to tap to wake or turn it off completely.

Yeah I have it at tap to wake currently but will switch back to. Always on tomorrow and see if it makes much difference

Since putting on Adaptive battery saving my battery is alot better

On my Note 8 with AOD on my drain is about 1% an hour. Overall AOD my guesstimate is that it probably takes 3-5% off for the day. You can see also by playing with power saving mode it will tell your battery time differences if you turn on/off AOD.

If it's always on, it takes about 2% per hour. At least in my experience with it.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm a noob so please bear with me. I just got the new S10 and the AOD doesn't work when charging wirelessly. I just got off a chat session with Samsung and this was there reply: "I'd like to inform you that the always on display will not work when the phone is in the wireless charger" and "We are constantly enhancing our operating system capablities and with every improvement there is always a chance an older feature my be changed or modified".

Sigh. And I just tossed my old alarm clocks....

Are there any suggestions or replacements that anyone is aware of that don't cost a lot or have a lot of ads?

Mine works when wireless charging is used

No reason why it won't work

I suspect it is another app running in the background. I have a black screen with a white bar at the bottom that shows the home 'button' and the back 'button'. I have set all the settings for AOD (I had an S8 in the past, so I'm familiar with the AOD settings). Anything I do to try and see what app is running in the background or why the AOD isn't displaying displays the lock screen.

Do you have Nova? I do and it does that sometimes.
