How tf can i connect my samsung tab 2 10.1 to my pc

So hi, I want to upgrade my tablet to a newer android but that's not the problem when I tried connecting it to my pc it just doesn't recognize it I am really stuck cause I installed drivers and I did a whole lot of things to get this working and nothing helped me anybody got ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect the tablet, swipe down the notification panel. Do you see a USB notification there? If so, tap it, then select MTP (or File Transfer).

I assume you're trying to flash a custom ROM?

You tried different USB ports , cables ?
What error do you see?
In your pull down notification panel any USB settings option u see?

Can you try the steps I mentioned, maybe another computer if says same ?

Also try cleaning out the tablet's USB port by blowing it out with a can of compressed air, and brushing it with a dry toothbrush. If this persists, even with different cables, then the USB port has probably failed. You'd have to replace the port, but the cost of replacement is probably not worth the value of the tablet, considering how old it is.

i tried all of these i get still the same error I have one doubt tho my original cable broke so I bought a generic one does that affect this

That can depend on the quality of the cable. I'd go with a more reliable brand like Belkin, but if the problem persists with that, then I would still suspect a problem with the port itself.

Don't use those $1 or $5 ones
Anker another good brand
