Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Just wanted to thank you and let you know that it worked perfectly.

Cheers!

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Everything you say in the instructions works, but When I click on the wrench, I only see options to rename the device or to unpair. It says paired but not connected. Can I use PDA net or something similar to connect?

Does this How-To work on a wi-fi xoom using a evo 3d?

Yup, mine too. Paired but not connected is all I get. It has never worked for me. I wish someone would figure this out.

Sent from my 4G Xoom using Tapatalk.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

it worked before and now not anymore :(

my phone is droid x and wifi xoom.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

will this pull extra charges while tethering from my carrier? I'm running a dinc and xoom is wifi only! sorry didn't have time to read entire thread. appreciate the help.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Sorry to ask a dumb question, seeing is how the topic is how to get Bluetooth tethering to work, but...

Why would anyone want to tether either a 3G or 4G capable phone to a WiFi Xoom via Bluetooth. Is it not possible to tether via USB?

Prior to getting my Xoom (wireless) I used to use PdaNet on my Droid X phone to tether to my laptop.

Bluetooth tethering was only ever a complete pain in the ass, and even when I could get it working, the poor transmission rate via Bluetooth was insufferable.

On the other hand, tethering via USB was always quick to hook-up, usually worked well, and allowed for 3G type transfer speed.

I can understand using Bluetooth if it is not possible to do it using USB, but it USB tethering is a viable option, is the trade-off of poor performance really worth the ability to not have to use a cable between the devices?

It still is a pain in the ass. The bluetooth tether is very temperamental. The bluetooth tether works but once you disconnect you need to reboot your tab in order to reconnect.

In fact it is easier to root your DX and wifi tether. Thats what I did and it works fantastic.

Some people do not want to pay for the 3g/4g service for thier Xoom. So this is one option to "borrow" the internet connection from your phone without rooting it.

I myself have a 3gig plan on my Xoom, and love it. No fuss, always on Internet!!!!

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

:D

I ma using wi-fi Tether App on my phone to turn phone into wi-fi hotspot and then connect my Xoom wi-fi to the phone wi-fi hotspot.

I did not see any Bluetooth Tethering option in my Motorola Xoom 3.2.1

:D

The WiFi Hotspot approach makes a Hell of a lot more sense than trying to get slow-assed, unreliable, pain-in-the-ass Bluetooth to work.

In retrospect, I've wondered about the value, not to mention long-term viability of wireless in a tablet (aka Xoom) when WiFi LTE hotspot devices are already available.

As data plans become more expensive, it makes increasing sense to have a data plan for one device, and share LTE connectivity via WiFi, rather than pay for 2 or more plans when at least one is bound to be underused.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Worked for me with Droid X2 and Xoom WiFi. I usually only use my Xoom at home with my WiFi anyway, but I wanted to test this just in case I need my Xoom while out.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Wow, awesome. I just tried it on my WiFi Xoom with my Bionic. As long as the steps are followed exactly (specifically turning on airplane mode and then enabling bluetooth) it works great.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

anyone lose the tether option under bluetooth with the ICS update? when i long press on my devices I only see rename or unpair.
Xoom 4.0.3
Nexus S 4g 2.3.7
both stock/unrooted

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Couple notes: Xoom 16G Wifi Android 4.0.3, and a Droid X2 Android 2.3.4

1. Xooms do not have the "Tethering" option under Wireless.
2. All I had to do was to turn off Wifi, not go full Airplane Mode.

But, it is working.

Re: [HOW-TO] Bluetooth Tether from Android phone to XOOM (NO root

Have a Xoom and an older Android (Motorola Flipout). Got to Step 8, both paired but no connect. Any suggestions other than dump the phone?

Thanks
