How To CREATE & SHARE Your very own Splash1 Screen

when you click on the .bat file, a screen pops up with instructions (the instructions start out by saying to plug your phone in and you don't need to, it won't work if you do)
You may be able to find your answer on XDA forums... I have no clue when it comes to a mac :)

yeah i'll have to do some reading

Yeah - bat files won't work on a mac. Steve Dos not like it! ;) <<sorry - could not help myself>>

ah true. haha.

ive been thinking about my next computer running linux, i dont really know anything about it but it would probably be an interesting "project".

If you want to dabble in linux, you can always boot off a CD to test it out on your mac before committing anything to it. If you're interested, I would recommend Ubuntu because it is free to download and has a really friendly UI. Then, you can write it to a CD or drop it onto a thumb drive and try it out at your leisure.

That's a really good idea i will try that.

Alright i plan to work on a few more quick photoshopped splash1s.

Maybe a jet fighter skyraider 4 splash?
Some more marvel comics oriented screens, most likely spiderman.
Also willing to take suggestions (i should have next week off from work and some time on my hands).
These will be for my own consumption but i'll post them of course, after i lean on seth to zip them . Good for nothing imac (....)

That sounds really tight... I will be more than happy to zip any photos that you want to send to me... I am going to PM you my email so you can send them to me like that... instead of clogging this up with a ton of pics... I will give you all the credit for anything you send me :)

I am trying to create one for myself and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong to save my life...

I created a 480x800 image using photoshop and saved it as a JPEG. I downloaded the script to convert the image and followed your instructions very carefully (double checked spelling and watched for duplicate file extensions). I zipped with WinRAR in "Store" format so that the folder contained splash.img and android-info. ZIP folder is named PB31IMG.zip. My SD card is FAT32. The folder is on the root of my card. I reboot into HBOOT, select Bootloader, it saysd something about checking the SD card and then parsing the zip folder (it goes pretty fast so i can't read it). Then when I reboot... same old HTC Incredible splash. Please tell me I'm being a complete noob and point out my obvious mistake. Thanks in advance.

Check your file name using a file explorer on your phone. Is the file PB31IMG.zip or PB31IMG.zip.zip?

Also - on your computer (I'm assuming a Windows PC) go to Control Panel -> Folder Options Click on the View tab and un-check the Hide Known File Extensions option. Then check your file names again inside the .zip as well.

This is a common problem area.

Already have the file extensions setting showing full file and folder names on the PC. I checked again with Root Explorer and all files have single extensions: PB31IMG.zip, android-info.txt, splash1.img. Hah, this is going to drive me insane...

place PB31IMG.zip on the root of SD card... (which Im sure you already have), then when you Hboot, wait a few seconds and like you said a bunch of stuff happens very quick BUT it should then ask you if you want to update, and if so you press the volume up button, then it should update the new splash for you, then press volume down to get back to the normal HBOOT screen.... I apologize i havent been around in a week or so... I am going to new orleans in about 20 mins, I will have a ton of free time to help you if need be... if you still can get it, PM me your Gtalk name or you can even facebook chat me... its quicker than this :) good luck friend...

...aaaaaannd rookie mistake. When I was zipping the folder I was archiving it so that there was a folder within the folder. Problem solved. Thanks for all the support everyone.

Nice... I did the same thing when I started doing this... Glad you got it figured out. Hopefully others read through this thread in case they run into similar issues... Thanks for the feedback back... I need to specify that issue in the OP for others

splash screen

Could some one do this Pict for me, i have no clue how to on android, I have it on my htc touch pro 2 Thanks

new to android simple directions please.
I honestly tried to make the directions from the OP as super simple as possible, try and Download both files at the bottom of the OP first and open them completely, then read throught the direction again, I had to do it that way to understand what exactly i was looking at my first time... Are you familiar with winzip or winrar? Do you know how to use MSpaint (easiest for resizing) or any other photo editing software? I assume you are rooted.... make you a deal :) If you at least read every post in this whole thread (should only take maybe thirty mins) and still cant figure it out, I will do the pic for you. I cant do it right now, but i should have free time tomorrow early afternoon.

Also, I hope your not on a mac.. ;)

Thanks not rooted just got the Inc. and starting, i am a total new-by to droid, windows mobile, i can do, i have down loaded the files and will try, just in case you do it also and then i can maybe instal, this is a very hard system for me to grasp.

Well let me be the first to say WELCOME to the club... I came from a palm Pre plus (webOS) and miss it sometimes :) but I love android... I just got a thunderbolt after having the incredible for a while...

You need to be rooted before you can do this, and rooting an incredible is alot easier now then it used to be... If I can give you one great piece of advice, no matter what thread your in trying to do something new on your phone, READ READ READ and then READ some more, just to make sure you know what your doing... nothing will make your heart skip a beat quicker than you thinking you may have just F'd up your phone :P But you are in the best forum for getting help and let me say that the people you will get to know in the incredible forums are awesome... PVILLECOMP, ZERO NECK, WANDA, and RPZ.13 are always around to help too... I would suggest you get comfortable rooting your phone first before you try and do this...
