Android Central Question

In non safe mode phone calls when made or received don't work- can't hear them, they can't hear me. If I restart I can do one phone call straight after restart but them back to same problem. Safe mode phone works fine. How can I work out which app is causing the problem?

Boot into safe mode, verify its not the stock phone app, and then by process of elimination you can find it. Start with recording apps, and anything with microphone permission.

Thats my point- how do you "by process of elimination" because you cant boot each app up one at a time ? phone app works fine in safe mode as previously mentioned. I did have a call recording app which was my first suspect so I deleted that to no avail.

Though this would be more work, you can always factory reset your phone (provided that all of your important photos, apps, etc are saved and backed up) and download each new app, one at a time, until you find out which one is the issue. Write out a list of all the apps you use that may be culprits; so you're not missing any.

Thanks, I'm trying to avoid a factory reset and work out which app is the issue and delete it. reset and reload will take a long time
