Hi guys i need to edit some NV items on my optimus V so it can stick with my new carrier user id..

I have download the NV items using CDMA Workshop... But it?s in decimal i guess.. Something like this.

1740 (0x06CC) - OK
FE 05 07 05 00 FB F9 F9 FD 02 05 06 05 02 FF FC
F6 FC FE FB F7 F2 F0 F1 F4 F9 FC FD FC F9 F6 F4
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

How do i convert the .txt file to plain text to edit.. then revert to decimal , and load that file to the phone ??

In case anyone is wondering why i need to do this. it?s because I can?t save the AN under PPP config value to stick with my new carrier user id.. it always revert to virgin mobile value..

I?m using QPST + CDMA Workshop.

Thanks

TRANSLATOR, BINARY Paste into the hex part, hit decode. Then edit the text part, then hit encode when done. Make sure the formatting is right.

The items you want are
0579
1194

Save them individually from your phone using CDMA workshop using the NV items read function. Edit them as described above. Then use the write function to upload the file back.

But trust me, I tried. The real entries you want to edit are hidden with "access denied". I tried everything I could think of but we are locked out of these.

Uhmm but in what language is writen the NV items ?? because when i want to make the conversion i got some funny characters...

BTW: there are several phones with this "problem" for example take a look at this one

[SOLVED]Data connection setting in SCH-i770 saga - PPCGeeks

But i tried using Qxdm, and i think because the Optimus must be OFF to get access, that seems imposible i can?t the qxdm to read any data under the NV items..

O yeah i?m on stock rom/kernel just rooted... You think if i change the rom for other this can be done ?

Only some of the items will look like real text. Look up the ones I listed and you'll see that they are what you are looking for.

They are written in hex as far as I can see. If there are letters, it can't be written in decimal as your link says.

Thanks.. well i have done the changes to 0579 and 1194 string.. The 0579 remain now my value, but the 1194 always revert to vmobile... When the phone is reboted.... Any clue ?? So there must be something else that tells the 1194 to write that value no mater what...

I've also tried to do this with the phone off. It behaves the same as when the phone is on.

You need run QPST configuration and add the correct ports. Usually the phone uses different ports when off than when on. Check device manager under Ports to see which port it is using.

I have done that.. And when the phone is ON the USB serial port doesnt exist.. only when the phone is OFF

Well, it makes no difference. Everything I've done was with the phone on.

mmarz... i found your thread about dumping the memory of the phone.. and i have found several strings refering to mdata.vmobl.com, you know how to upload everything (the *.bin) files again to the phone?

No, it's a one way street with the dump (chuckle). I know of no way to upload it again.

mmarz... I found a solution to upload the bin file again.. But the problem now is where/how to find the VM670.dll , the software needed is LGNPST or LG Download Program.. and that dll file is to make the phone available thru that software, with out it... it can connect but it will say Model Unknown.

I tried with the dll file for the optimus M and its different... So if you know where or how to make the DLL for the V that would be awesome..

I'm pretty sure that program is for uploading an official firmware. These bin files that we made are raw dumps of the memory. They are not the same thing. That tool does not even apply to our phones. We have our own firmware update tools and even within those tools, we are missing a different dll file that prevents us from updating. If you use the Optimus S firmware, you can flash it to our phones because they do have the dll file. No matter which fiirmware you flash, the software downloads your phone's esn, PPP config..etc and incorporates it into the firmware. This is not a route to change those values.

I read in some other forums a while back that the paid version of the newest CDMA workshop can do what you are trying to do. I don't promise anything, but that is what I heard. You may want to contact the makers of the software or try a user forum. There has to be a way to do what you want because there are items like this:
Flash Sprint LG Optimus To Boost Mobile | eBay

I just mail the makers of CDMA workshop to see what they have to say, a bit of topic question.. If my Data values are wrong especially the AN one,, you know why i?m getting internet, yeah at 1x speed, but at least is something.. Sometimes it switch to 3G (the icon only) because if do a speedtest i got 1x speeds....

Maybe your cell provider does not require your login to access their network and you happen to live in a 1x speed area.

I live in a 3G area, some friends are with the same carrier and full 3G, but the weird thing of this is, if i dial ##33284# then enter my SPC , i go to Data status and i have this

IP Address:
EVDO:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
1x:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Last Error code
173

So its not giving an IP Address... if i run the Network shortcut, under my phone number says current network and is in blank.. i have check that on other androids and they get Iusacell (the carrier)

This is kinda weird...

Have you tried contacting the cell phone provider? Maybe they have a cell phone shop with equipment and software to flash your phone. I assume they don't produce their own phones unless their are a huge company.

they don?t support foreign phones. They only limit the service to write the MEID/ESN to their network, and provide you the MIN...

Wait i found something that maybe you with more knowledge can see something..

I flashed again the phone with my stock values (virgin) but put the PRL 01120 that you shared on xda... and now I get signal ofcourse no data but, if I run the network shortcut it now says international. (could this be of any help?? )

Umm, shouldn't you be using a PRL from your cellphone provider? That PRL is for America. You need to find Iusacell's PRL. If any of your friends have a Iusacell phone, you can take the PRL from their phone.
