The link to Odin isn't working for me, just sending me to a 404 page. Does anyone know where I can find the latest version?

Also, is redbend the same as Odin as far as use goes?

Hm it looks like the Odin link from XDA is dead. I just uploaded the Odin rar file from my computer and added a mirror link next to the original link in post #1.

From my understanding redbend is similar in some functionalities to Odin, but I've never used it myself. Just read about it in the Clockwork sticky.

Help with Odin pls

Im getting everything on my computer ready to flash the stock rom back to my phone in case I do something to it. My question is about the di18file download. In the directions on the sticky it says to rename and take off the md5. I have no clue how to rename and take it off. I downloaded it and saved it to the desktop and when I choose to rename it doesn't have the md5 at the end. If I put the file in Odin it has the md5 and all the example pics don't have it at the end. How to I get it off? The only thought I had was when I go to save the file I can change it from md5 to all files? Would that work? Thanks

So tell me if I got it right. When I clicked save file it brought up the save directory and what I did was erase the .tar and I put it back on and saved it to my desktop. It saved it now without the md5 on it and it says it is a tar archive file. I have no idea how me erasing .tar and then putting it back in took off the md5 at the end. Is the file saved correctly now as a tar archive and when I put it in Odin the md5 isn't at the end just .tar

I figured out the reason why I couldn't see the md5 at the end cause my computer was checked to hide file extensions. Do you still have to rename the file or can you put it in Odin with the md5 at the end? Thanks

if the sticky says to rename it, then rename it.

isnt that what your said the sticky said to do?

when i used odin to get the froyo modem and stuff, i didnt have to rename anything. either way, if you do a trial and error, you should be fine, id imagine itll just say error when you try and odin the files.

and you dont need odin to flash back to a stock rom. you only need it to get back to bone stock - no root and no clockwork

Going back to stock

Hey guys-

I have a rooted Epic, running the latest Syndicate ROM, and wanna go back to stock for the impending 2.2 update. I know how to do this on HTC devices, but I didn't know if it was as simple as loading the Stock ROM back on the phone or if there were any extra steps.

Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Take a look at post #1 of this thread - it will get you back to stock 2.1 Eclair (version DI18).

i cant get the phone to be recognized by odin so far my only issue tried 2 different computers what am i missing? please help

omg just wanted to say thank you soo much i am clueless when it comes to rooting my friend traded his evo and the phone was frozen the person that sold it of course disappeared i told him to leave it with me i would try and fix it..... 3 hours later of research and bumps in the road he no longer has a brick = D thank youuuuu sooooo much to everyone that contributed information for this guide

Thanks for the drivers reminder. I was going crazy wit Odin not recognizing my phone. For any other noob-hacks like me here is the driver link:

Samsung

I would go over the procedure once more to make sure you didn't miss anything. After that try a different USB port and/or USB cord.

Going with me to work tomorrow (since I got my Optimus S unbricked) and I will try it there.

Worked fine at work, guess that means its time for a fresh Windows install at home.

To go back to 2.1, refer to this thread.

EDIT: Just noticed your comment about Odin. This is probably the simplest form of going back to 2.1 at this time, so I strongly suggest it. If you're confused about anything in the directions definitely feel free to ask.

Simple/Stiupid question:

When I download the files, I'm downloading them to my computer correct? not directly on the phone.

In Step 2, I had to go to the "Source" link to download the file *OFFICIAL* SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 - xda-developers. Am I downloading Dk28 Update of DK18 Update? It seemed obvious that it would be DK18, but I thought I'd ask since I had the experts' attention. :o
