1. Run the DI18 Eclair 2.1 package again

Or

2. Run the Froyo EB13 package (same exact setup/method) as you see with DI18 except you don't use a ".pit" file like with DI18.

Re: Help I Bricked My Phone!

Long story short, I messed up trying to unroot my phone back to stock and every time I turn it on it immediately goes to a black screen with a little picture of a cellphone, a Warning Sign (!), and a computer.

I have tried to connect it to the computer before and after the picture shows up but nothing changes. I have tried to unroot my phone again, because I can still get to the Download mode, but Odin continues to fail giving me a "Complete(Write) operation failed.". I have gotten to the recovery mode but wiping the cache and my entire phone did nothing.

Help!
To get where you can use Odin to download a firmware:
- Remove the battery
- Plug the phone into the USB cable which is connected to your computer
- Then press the "1" on the physical keyboard and the power key at the same time to put the phone into download ready
- Use Odin to load your firmware

For this last step I used the instructions at:

My Epic was having a major boot loop issue after flashing the syndicate rom, but all seems well, now, thanks to this. Thanks a lot! I can finally go to sleep and worry about re-rooting it in the morning. Again, big ups to you guys.

This was a life saver !!!!!!!... The only thing that worked for my phone..
If you can't get your phone into download mode or Odin to recognize the device, then try removing your battery and plug your phone in and boot into download mode/connect to Odin WITHOUT your battery in the phone. (Credit: Android Central's own DroidXcon)

Anyone else have trouble with k0nane's file hosting of the EC05 tar incessantly timing out?

I have had this happen and normally running the EC05 tar without my battery in my device pushes it right by...

Edit, sorry if I misunderstood your question. If your talking about the file hosting server timing out then that is just a problem of Mediafire Hosting Service. It happens from time to time, I just checked and its downloading fine.

I had to keep pausing / restarting the download to get it, but did finally get it.

Paul that EC05 section is missing the victory_8G_100528.pit in the directions. And the file linked is a tar not a md5. You reference .md5 in step 4, but if you try to rename to md5 you get a hash error.

I got this to go with 1.81 using the victory pit and the downloaded tar.

Okay I will amend that in the instructions... Didn't pay attention to the file type.

If its in .tar format then just go with it... Sometimes they are in md5 format and other times they are just tar format...

The .pit file is normally not required, it will work with or without.. I never use it personally and things work fine...

Thanks for the heads up!

I might be putting this in the wrong post, anyway I plugged my usb into my phone which is a new blackberry usb and it goes into charging mode and thats it. Im running efo2 with i3 rom and this is the first time this has happened since running this. I went into setting and usb connection is highlighted ask on connection, but it still goes into charge mode. Ive changed usb's on my computer but all of them go into charge mode. Any help would be appreciated. I also brought up odin and it isnt showing up in there either.

I apologize for the noob question, but I recently flashed EC05 to my wife's Epic 4G without using the PIT file. (as I understand it is not needed)

I followed the directions to the tee and once Odin completed there was a message in Odin stating that 1 passed and 1 failed and that I needed to update the radio.

Is there anything further that I need to do here?

The phone seems to be working properly with one exception.

I rooted using SuperOneClick 1.9 and installed Wireless Tether 2.0.7 from the market.

While I can utilize the wireless connection on my Windows XP laptop I am unable to connect via my Windows 7 laptop.

I am able to connect to the Windows 7 laptop using other phones but not the Epic 4G.

I'm guessing this is unrelated to my flashing of EC07 but would really appreciate feedback on this issue.

Thanks in advance

I have heard ongoing mixed comments on this. Some people have it working fine while others have issues....

Its not ROM related to my knowledge, its driver issues... I think Samsung needs to really look into their drivers and get them updated better to suit Windows 7

BTW, you are correct on the pit file. It really isn't needed in most cases. Radio issue, that is just flashing the correct modem which really shouldn't matter you can really run any modem/radio with any version of OS. I hear of users running EC05 Froyo still running Eclair modem.

Thanks Paul627g,

I've been looking into this quite a bit and have seen others with the same issue. I just haven't found a solution as of yet. I read somewhere that using Windows drivers ver 13.1.1.1 has resolved this for others. Guess I will try this next. I just needed to know that it wasn't something I had done while using Odin.

I appreciate the feedback.

No this isn't anything you've done with Odin. Windows 7 has been giving many users issues with connectivity. I'm actually in the process of buying a new laptop myself and I'm worried about the whole connectivity fact since it will have Windows 7 on it. I liked things much better back on Windows XP and even old Win 95 personally :p

Just as a follow up:

I was able to resolve this issue by downloading some older WLAN drivers from 2008 for my laptop. In my case they were not v13.1.1.1 as I had read previously, but nevertheless the WLAN drivers were the issue.

quick suggestion- use a quicker download service for the EC05 file. i realize its a big file but it is downloading ridiculously slow- more than 20 minutes to download it. feels longer when you are trying to get your phone back up and running.

I understand your frustrations Dave.

Our problem is we are a free service, we aren't paid or provided with any online storage. So we offer you the best file hosting services available. The Odin tar files are over 200 meg in filesize. Most of the better, faster and free file hosting services like Mediafire, Drop Box, 4Shared have a limit of no more than 200 meg in size so we are forced to use the slower Multiupload and other services like them to host the tar files. That is why they are always slow to download.

Hope this clears the air on the slow download times on the tar files. I personally host anything under 200 meg using the faster, no wait time MediaFire or 4shared.com.

I believe my Epic is done. Just need to know if theres anything else to do... I downloaded odin3 v1.85 opened pit and put this in victory_8G_100528.pit. I opened up the other boxes but nothing was their to open. i left only auto-reboot and on top it says epic4g. I didnt see where to put if need be files fom Deodexed-Rooted-CWM-busybox-EG22-1. I conected my phone, it came up in the odin box. Took around 11 secs or so and read pass on top , all green and at the bottom it said something1/ failed0 .
Ive done it before and all was fine. my phone was acting up when i got home. I was running ACE 2.0 and kept having WiFi issues once aday so today i said i would odin to the new leaked GB. Now my phone wont turn on after all this was done. Anything else to done or is it done for?
