How to get photos from my SD card?

I had a htc 500 and saved photos to the SD card. I have transferred that SD card to a HTC610, but cannot access the photos on the card.
If i drill down through 'security' -> 'install from storage' -> highlight the card and find the folder DCIM, and then the relevant folders, the photos are there, but all greyed out, so unaccessable.
How can I access these photos, please. thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Storage, tap Unmount, then remove the card and then insert it into your computer's SD reader. Can you see the files in Windows Explorer? If so, then back them up to your hard drive now. Now format the SD card, and then copy the photos back to it. Remove the card, and insert it back into the phone. Do the photos show up now?
