How to hang up on accidental call?

I'm on a call when I accidentally touch the "end call" instead of the speaker. I try to call back, get busy signal. Meanwhile, they are calling back. Suddenly, the DX is dialing away to a third party and there is NO HANG UP OPTION! All that's on the screen is the dial pad and green "phone" icon.

HOW DO I HANG UP when I make an accidental call on the DX?

I've tried everything, but backing out of the screen doesn't hang up. Egads!!! Where is the red hang-up button when you need it?????

So, what your saying is that when you accidentally placed the call the screen did not switch over from the dialer to the screen with the red hangup button and the speaker button and the picture of the contact you're calling? Have you looked at your "show dialpad" settings in the call settings?

Yes, I've set the dialpad to "show" only on 800 numbers. I can't figure this out because, when it happens, I'm in a panic to end the errant call and don't have the luxury to check out options on the screen. I'm wondering if there is a button to shift to the standard call screen where the red phone is waiting. Might have to do some trial runs with my husband's cell as the "victim." Thanks for the input.

In checking this out, I noticed the actual dial pad has no "red phone" to hang up - even if you make a call using it. I will check out the pull down bar to see if this is where it's hidden.

What is this with the DX that there's no "hang up" icon on the dial pad???? The return button doesn't work to end a call, either. Nor the menu button or the home button. I've tried them all in the crisis situation.

Yoo Hoo - Motorola and Verizon! Something's missing here!

The pull down menu won't open while in the dialer. This is the normal behavior in 2.1 and 2.2. You have to press Home, the status bar will begin to flash green, then you can pull it down. There should be a large red end call button at the top right.

I can understand why there isn't an end call on the dialer before a call has been placed. Are you sure in your dialer after a call has been initiated you do not see a big end call button in the middle, second row from the bottom?

Yes, I can get the red end-call button when the screen with the contact on it appears. Apparently, calls can be placed and the screen remains in the dialer mode - even though I have the settings at 800-numbers-only.

My problem is specific to the dial screen - buttons with alpha-numeric markings and a green phone icon. There is no way to end a call with that screen up -- and, if the other screen doesn't appear automatically, there is NO WAY that I've found to manually shift to the other screen (where there IS a red end-call button).

This isn't an isolated incident. If I accidentally touch the wrong contact and dialing is initiated by the DX, there is no way to end the call. I'm hoping your instructions will do the trick, but that's a lot to do in a hurry. There should be a red phone (end call icon) on the dialer screen.

Thank you for the information on where/how to find the end-call on the pull down menu. I'm not a neophyte with smartphones, but this has me stumped at the moment. Your help is appreciated!

Can't find "Power Button Ends Call"

In order for this to work, you need to activate this option.

Settings/Accessibility - Check Accessibility ON, then choose Power button ends call

This would be great! However, could you check the sequence because when I open Accessibility settings, all I get are three check boxes - one for "Accessibility", another for "Zoom Mode" and then "Screen Reader." No sign of the "Power Button ends call". I checked other options in the Settings menu and didn't see an option for the power button. I'm still running 2.1 on the DX.

I sure hope you can tell me where to find this! Thanks for your help!

Ah..... It must be only available on 2.2. That's what I am running on my X.

I discovered you are right after a search through the DX forums. Only on 2.2.

So, for the meantime, I also discovered that if you completely turn off automatic/default dial screens - and that means ALL of the options - you get the nice screen with the big red OFF button immediately after a number is dialed. Go then, if you need to punch in numbers to get through an 800 call, there's a button.

The DX screen is so sensitive that I've already tested this new protocol - accidentally, of course (again).

I'm actually glad to hear this issue was recognized and has been fixed already ... well, it will be when the DX catches up to its older and younger siblings. Can't be too soon!
