How to hard reset only using physical buttons

I have cracked screen and lcd is not working, but physical buttons work, I've seen with other xperias there is a way to get to recovery mode using just the physical buttons, but this doesn't seem to work on z3c. When powering on , I get no light in notification to time when to hit the volume button. Any ideas?

I'm not sure there's a stock recovery you can access. I found this process on T-Mobile's support pages for a cache partition wipe, but it doesn't go through the recovery menu: Wipe cache partition: Sony Xperia Z3 | T-Mobile Support

I've done that several times, it appears to do a soft reset, I'm wanting a hard reset

Hmm, I can't find that info on the web. Interestingly, the T-Mobile support site for the Xperia Z says that there is not physical button method for hard reset, which is strange to me. I'm not sure if this definitely applies to the Z3, though. Master reset: Sony Xperia Z | T-Mobile Support
