Landshark. Sorry about the post. I did not see Adrynalyn's post and I knew that it seemed to fix my battery issues.
Know there are way toooooo many my battery life sucks posts. Not sure why folks don't use search.

go into astro,

find "download folder"

open said folder

find batt stat file

open it, look for system

ultimately you need to find the file labeled with the name "script". but you cannot "open" it. you long press on that file and then open it in in text editor.

then you delete the first two characters which is the #!. then long press that page, select all, copy.

press your home key at the bottom of the phone,

open up your terminal emulator app (which if you are embarking on this, you should have downloaded long ago from the app store)

type "su" from the $ prompt. it should then give you su access and you will see the # prompt.

long press the screen again, and select "paste".

this will autorun and restart your phone. if it doesn't restart, you did something wrong.

bear in mind, i am not a genius, and i have almost ZERO knowledge of development or how to use adb, and i figured it out on my own in about 20 minutes.

so you can do this. plus, if you do something wrong, "most" of the time the worst that will happen is nothing. the adb shell in the terminal only responds to very specific text commands. so don't be too scared.

Can someone help me out here. I am in astro but i dont see the file labeled script.

Hey bill, no need to apologize about the post. Just trying to educate people about how much info is here at AC if you just look for it. Good point about using search, and I don't know why either. And understandably the awesome people here at AC would prefer you not post links to other sites only when the same information is available at AC. I have seen Administrators, Moderators, and Advisers post links to other sites, so if you found some helpful information at another site and the same information is not available at AC I would think they would not have a problem with you posting a link. After all, that would help everyone here by sharing that helpful and useful information, and that pretty much seems to be the point of these forums - helping each other and sharing information.

help please.

Where did you get that quote? All you have to do to run the battery stats script is open terminal emulator, next to the $ type su, hit the enter key on your keyboard, super user permission will be granted and you will see a #, next to that type bstats and hit the enter key on your keyboard, pone will reboot itself, done. Remember to only run the battery stats script when your battery is at a full 100%

Sounds great - which steps do you mean? The ones for charging to 100% and so on?

Yes, he is talking about charging phone to 100%, turn phone off but leave it plugged in, charge to 100%, turn phone back on, charge to 100%, as soon as it hits 100%, pull usb cord, open terminal emulator, next to the $ type su, hit the enter key on keyboard, super user permission will be granted and # will appear, next to # type bstats. Phone will reboot in a few seconds. After phone reboots go to phone, dial *228 and do options 1 and 2. Done.

Thanks, Landshark. I'll do the first charge tonight and continue tomorrow.

P.S. I would not open the door when you knock.

When i press #*228 i get an operator error message, any ideas?

Well that's not a battery issue but here goes. Generally the first thing I do with this problem at work is double check that the proper ESN is attached to the phone number/sub-account. Wrong ESN is the only thing I've known to cause this problem, and I do this all day.

I ordered an oversized battery and when it came it also had a new back which i like because it doesnt muffle the speakers.
i still have the original battery which if i go on a trip,,,,it'll be near by in case i have a battery prob..
i even like the newer look with the bulging belly cover..

Can you post a side by side with the two battery covers? I wanna see exactly what I'm looking at to go extended, but I've been kicking the idea around for a while now.

What does the text I highlighted in RED do exactly after the phone reboots from running bstats?

I had run bestats before but did not see this in the original post you created about it. I decided since my phone was at full charge to run it again.

I dialed *228 and did not get any options. I heard an operator say something about my phone being programmed. Then it rebooted.

What did this do? Yes I should have checked before I did it probably ;)

Thanks for linking my previous post. I see I had a typo in there with the # before *228 and corrected it. *228 usually gives you an option 1 and an option 2. I can't remember what option 1 does, something like activating your phone. Option 2 updates your PRL which is your roaming capability. Basically if new towers have been added your phone can work and/or roam off of, it updates the list so your phone will connect with more towers and you should get a stronger signal and less time without a signal. Your phone shouldn't have rebooted after updating the PRL. You can go straight to doing that update by dialing *22899. Oh and also I did read on XDA where some of the more experienced people there were saying they run bstats and do the *228 every time they flash a new ROM. Can't remember why they said they did it.
