how to install a custom rom on LG G2?

I have LG G2 D802 international version and i m unable to root it because i just cant get into recovery mode
By pressing and holding power button and volume down button,lg logo appears them i again press them but nothing happens but phone gets on and i even tried pressing power button 3 times after that
Please help me i want to to install g3 custom rom on g2

The way I installed mine was by downloading TowelRoot and AutoRec. Install Towelroot and run it (if the phone DOESN'T reboot then you have Root Access). Once that is done, download AutoRec for D802 from their site, and install.

Once it's installed, turn the phone off, and then hold the Power + Vol Down button until the LG Splash Screen shows up. When it shows up, release the Power + Vol Down button and then press them again quickly. It will show up a screen asking to press Power button to confirm a Factory Reset. Press Power 3 Times and it will boot into the custom recovery.
