[How To][Links] Themes, ROMs, Kernels, Boot Animations: 9-16-11

You got it right... that is the way it is done... now with the file manager you can choose to download any boot animation that does not require flashing and copy it from your sdcard to your system/media folder - and presto - you have a new boot.. Thanks for keeping the spirit of learning alive.

PS: I will likely repack those zombie boots today and will put them back up..

yea once u have the zombie repackaged let me know I'd give it a try again iut makes me laugh so would b worth it I'm running the android laser but its beautiful as well and lips flawlessly thanks again

Your lucky day.. been building boots all morning - here is the repacked link.. Flash in CWM recovery.. it will install to system/media - as long as you do not have any bootanimation.zip files in data/local - it will play on boot..

Enjoy.

thanks for the fast work and responses JaeKar appreciate the work i try to figure things out best i can before asking but thanks dl was fast im know my CWM so well for a flash it literally takes like 15 seconds to wipe flash and reboot so great system there i was curious about the EC10 OC UV Voodoo EnderstSpecial Froyo TouchWiz based -nemesis2all - Updated 4-9-11 - (All Overclock warning apply)
- Enderst Special - Undervolted -50mv and Overclocked to 1.2 GHz

i know OC risks but am curious to give it a run my phone seems to handle just about anything ive thrown at it so far and the second boot up was perfect right as the last zombie loses a head im home screen booted thanks a ton look awesome any info on the OC UV would b great i know about battery problems but im curious about running it and im NOT running a set cpu or any sort of boost app so not sure if it will show a diffrence without that thanks

The overclocked/undervolted kernel like Enderst Special have the governor already set and the voltage already established.. the use of SetCPU will get you into trouble using kernels like OTB (it runs at 1.4 GHz).. and the overclockable kind (sv standard voltage), where you can control the governor with SetCPU.. Just as a note: OTB 1.4 kernel has clearly established warnings.. it is overvolted and overclocked.. use at your own risk.

I have used overclocked/undervolted kernels with success.. (in October 2010) you will have to watch for instability, lockups, and SOD (sleep of death)... That would be an indicator of issues..

When I started to push the limits of the kernel and the phone.. I stopped using those kernels..

I want to try out darkrevenge, currently on sc2.9.2 w/ ec10 4/07 voodoo kernel ...is it just a davlik/partition wipe and flash and same to go back to sc?

Please follow installation instructions in the developers thread -> link..

I would also like to suggest that you try to read though the posts as much as possible so you can anticipate errors as they come up...

Read? Read? Now you're getting crazy. That's really asking too much to have people thoroughly read instructions and understand what they are doing before they do it.

I read that already ..I just didn't know if the "Perform a full wipe" step meant I needed to wipe data/fatory reset, along w/ partition/davlik

When changing ROMS - Full wipe/factory reset with partition and dalvik... should really clear it all out.. so yeah, to play it safe, wipe them all...

I know that there is a buzzing/whining sound that is made when the screen is at it's maximum brightness on some ROMs.. But that sound comes via the ear piece not the screen itself. You can turn the brightness down and see if the sound persists..

I have never heard of a screen making that - (or any) sound... If you believe it is related to the ROM.. swap out for a ROM that did not give you that issue.

Jae, If you factory wipe dont u loose root? Just asking, anyways im waiting for this new super rom that everyone is talking about. Hopefully it is just a full odin package with data wipe so no need for anything else. you know me not big on flashing roms via CWM.

You will not lose root.. it will just remove all user data and settings... the ROM is intact and the superuser is still there.. A ROM flash that is not rooted will remove root..
