[How To][Links] Themes, ROMs, Kernels, Boot Animations: 9-16-11

Like I said, I could be off! And I just assumed orange 3.0 was the new edify version...well...since it was orange! My bad.

YES...I know it just says credits, but the last thing I wanted to do was flash back to SC 292. Sorry to create "noise". I was just unsure.

Just giving credit to those people for their work. He may have borrowed a few icons from SC 2.9.2 or the EC01 leak. Who knows. But I guarantee the theme does not include SC 2.9.2. SC 2.9.2 is over 130 MB, and I just downloaded this theme because I think I am going to run it and the theme is only 31.7 MB

EDIT - I also just noticed in his signature he is running the leaked EC01 ROM. That is probably what the tanks to Adrynalyne was for.

Point taken!!

And I just flashed it. So far, its one of the better ones out. If someone could take the gingerbread keyboard on this theme and make that a swype keyboard, I would DONATE! PERIOD!! I STILL have not found that icon pak tho, that has the wow factory. So far they are all big and bright and bubbley. I would like a color themed icon that is sharp and clean. But...thats why Im not theming. Just lettin the pros do it!

hey jae or someone random question do u have a flashable AOSP desk clock? all i can find is APK ? would be easier just to flash, no biggie if u dont, thanks buddy!

If you have an apk I would suggest just dropping it on you sdcard and installing via your file manager.. it is less time consuming than the CWM flash.. and - if you don't want it you can just clear it from your apps..

Can anyone please tell me what kernel 2.6.32.9 is and how read them to tell the difference between them

Thanks

2.6.32.9 is the version number of the kernel that was released with the Froyo update on the Fascinate. As for using custom kernels this number will not change, you will know that the kernel flashed properly by seeing the enlarged blue text flash across your screen sparatically when flashing through cwm. The version before this one I believe was labeled 2.6.9 (pre-Froyo)

Not sure when you downloaded - I was updating the links late yesterday. These are the current links to all resources: copied directly from the OP - thefunkbot

Downloads:
*Edify*
Crysis for Community Rom w/ Normal Battery v3.0
Crysis for Community Rom w/ Circle Battery v3.0

Extras:
Themed Keyboard and Pandora (EDIFY)
Themed Google Voice (EDIFY)
Ubuntu 10.10 Fonts (EDIFY) (I highly recommend using the fonts, they are the font you see in the screenshots and i think they look great with the theme.)
Crysis Wallpapers: (do not flash in cwr)

My only thought is to download another copy in the off chance you pulled down a copy of an old file.. Re-flash and that should take care of it..

I just switches from Black Alien Version ~ v3 to Nitro Honeycomb and it seem my LP is still has the Black Alien theme. It's not a huge deal but I would like to know if I could change the LP theme to Honeycomb.

If elements of the Black Alien theme are still hanging on the only way to get rid of them so you can have the Honeycomb LP would be to boot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, reflash whatever base ROM you are running, reboot, then boot back to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, flash the Honeycomb theme, reboot.

Thanks Sharky, that's kinda what I thought but I hoping their was an easier way. I blame my parents for my laziness:).

I downloaded directly from the XDA site and it says v.3.0 on the file in CWM. Gmail isn't themed, favorites in the dialer isn't themed.

if i take the apps and framework folders from the community rom final (1.1/1.2) zip and put them in a seperate zip file, would they flash/install fine thru cwm? incase i install a theme i dont like.

not sure brother..but a full nandroid will take you right back to where you were before you installed the theme..

I am charging my phone now (nandroid won't generate .md5 sum if battery is below 90 something percent btw) to make a nandroid so I can drop touch of blur on there to see if I can't grab a couple icons..: )

Best thing I ever did...flashed the CommRom, logged in to my gmail, and did a backup via CWM. This way as can flash as many themes as I want. Flash one and dont like it you say? Simple...restore and it takes you back to your setup just before you flashed the theme. This way you can try out all the themes you want with no worries of residual from the one theme to the next!!

You may get some or you may get all of the apps and items that are themed.. If you check the OP for most of the themes you will see a list of all the items (files) that are themed or modified..

If you are able to pull each of those files from the original ROM and flash them to your phone in the correct location that 'should' address the issue..

This technique has been tried before with varying degrees of success because sometimes the list of files may be incomplete and the list varies so greatly between the theme builders..

Like suggested - backups seem to be your best bet.

Best of luck.

This may be an error on the part of the theme developer. It may be an oversight or it may be an incomplete theme compile.

You are welcome to post on his thread and see if he responds to your post.

So backups, in/thru cwm are good? Never really heard it mentioned much

As long as you are running the most up-to-date version of CWM - 3-30 or the new 3.0.2.7x will work nicely..

In recent history backups were problematic due to memory mounting issues and permissions not being fixed properly upon restore - major force close issues (FCLOH).

This should be resolved.. I am using 3.x and it works well.. no backup or restore problems noted this far.

If you want to to take the time to extract all the files from the ROM and patches to build a zip flash - that is cool. I just found it more time efficient and less of a headache to use a backup and restore when a theme is not really doing it for me..

Nandroid is working well with the CWM 3-30 fix as well..

@jae...got some fresh icons...you ready for them?
