[How To][Links] Themes, ROMs, Kernels, Boot Animations: 9-16-11

Ahhhhh!!! I wish the photo hosting sites wouldn't restrict bandwidth so much! I just want to see screen shots of the new themes for the ComRom! (So I know which one to choose!)

As it is, been running ComRom for over an hour now. Love it so far.

I was running SC 2.9.2v with VA Green theme... wiped cache and Dalvik then flashed the ComRom over it immediately followed by the 1.1 patch then rebooted and all works great.

My one question is this: I had imnuts' -50mv kernel prior to upgrading to ComRom... Do I still have that kernel, our did the ComRom replace it? And if it did replace it, would it be safe to go back to it?

So you can flash the comrom without having to do a data wipe? It's the main reason why I haven't done it yet, because I love my phone the way it is right now. I'm running the ED01 Odin that Landshark made and I love it. I really don't want to go through the whole process of setting my phone back up to my liking lol.

Some people have had luck getting by with a dalvik and cache partition clear.. Others are not so lucky... it is recomended that a full wipe take place but the choice is yours..

It is always safe to keep a backup of apps and contacts. Titanium Backup is a great resource and is free from the market.

Sometimes there is some work that has to be put back into the phone to get all the cool programs..

You may have deleted the superuser in your efforts to fix the boot animation issue or.. you may have changed something and you lost root.. you can try to fix permissions and see if that changes things..

However, it sounds as though you have a pervasive problem with the ROM. I believe that a full wipe and ROM install may be needed to fix all the problems.
Would you or anyone one else know of any tests I can perform or other means of determining whether still "rooted" or not to be "rooted" anymore?

Thx

Jae, heads up nemesis2all dropped new version of his OTB kernel for the community rom....its preinstalled with 3.x cwm

EDIT: superuser, terminal em (type su) and root explorer have granted superuser permission...so I would have to believe I'm still rooted.

what file in EC01 Nitro Honeycomb v4.2.1 theme gives the honeycomb bee on the usb screen when you plug your phone into the computer?

Read Imnuts original post of it in the link that Jae puts there. I think off hand it does, could be wrong though

Ok I flashed the new kernal, and I got cwm voodoo lagfix 3.0.2.7. Cwm looked red though. It might have been a reddish orange color.

I have seen it mentioned on xda the new cwm 3.0 the devs put together is red.

I didn't do a full data wipe. Just cache and Dalvik. Then flashed the ComRom over my current setup (SC 2.9.2v with VA Green theme). It works just fine. Been running it for about 24 hours now. The only thing I noticed that ' changed' was that the groups I had contacts assigned to got reset. The contacts are all there, but their group associations were gone... no big deal for me, since I only grouped them to test out a bug in a previous ROM release.

Not saying the minimal effort I put forth will work for everyone though. As always, your mileage may vary. :)

First let me apologize for any misinformation that may be getting out. The new CWM with voodoo is red (v3.0.2.7x).. It works just like the red (v2.5.1.x).. It is being packaged with kernels that are being released by nemisis2all and imnuts. If you flash one of their kernels to your phone it will convert you to the new CWM (v3.0.2.7x)..

If you choose to flash back to 2.5.1.x you may have to use Odin to flash it back.. I have read reports that this does not work.. I have not tried it.. if you do please report back..

Thanks for the help Landshark!

I just tried to flash the Black Alien theme v3.0 using CWM 3.0.2.7 and it apparently isn't Edify compatible... the install was aborted.

You are correct on his OP gunnermike53 indicates that his install is 2.5.1.x install ONLY..

It may take some time for the switch to take place - I apologize for the inconvenience.

Cool thanks.. I didn't read his post about it.. I just checked out the previews in the main Theme post and flashed it.. there's no 2.5 warning up there.
