How to mark emails and texts as "unread"?

Ok, ive figured out how to mark emails as unread.

Anyone know how to do that with texts?

From what I have figured out thus far, I simply "check" off any emails in my list that I want to mark unread/read and once I do that, a little menu pops up on the bottom giving me a couple of options to choose from.

That's right, but what I'd like to do is a bulk selection - - hit one icon and all messages are selected at one time. Then tap either Mark Read our Mark Unread and every message in the batch is marked or unmarked. It's the batch edit I'm asking about.
