[HOW-TO] [NEW VERSION] Install Nookie Froyo to Internal Memory

I am curious, I think I want to get a nook and put Nookie Froyo on its internal memory, BUT I see there is an update to the Nook that is not yet rootable. Does this mean that if I get one now this will not be possible?
Can the first version of the OLD way install Nookie Froyo on a non-rooted nook?
Is there no way to do the easy ROM Manager version un-rooted?
Is there a way to flash the pre-update stock 1.0 ROM onto a 1.1 updated NOOK?

I just bought a Nook today and the device was still on 1.0.0. I rooted it per the method in another sticky. Worst comes to worst, if your device is on 1.0.1 then you can roll back using the instructions in this thread:

[HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! - xda-developers

* If you're getting a "device not found" error when running adb, download and unzip this file, open install.exe, and follow the on-screen prompts (this will install drivers so your computer will recognize the nook).

I'm having issues with my PC recognizing my NC after flashing this Froyo ZIP. I downloaded the zip, unzipped, ran the install.exe as administrator, and it says it installed fine. But when I plug my nook in, Windows doesn't recognize nor ADB.

When I type "ADB Devices," it says "List of devices attached," but no serial numbers or anything...

Any ideas?

This is a somewhat finicky part of the process that some people's connections do fine with, while others it takes some playing around to get it going.

The first thing to try is reboot both your computer and your Nook. This solved it when I had this issue.

If that still doesn't work, follow the steps in this thread, repeat if you have to:

Got it to work, thanks. Just finished with ADB'ing the Google Apps, but at first kept getting a error:protocol fault (no status)

Got the ADB commands to go through by opening up "SuperUser" on my nook and then typing them in.

Just installed via Clockworkmod flashable zip, much thanks to everyones hard work. unfortunately there are two issues I have noticed thus far,

1. Browser Crashes, I now understand we might be flashing with the older 0.5.8 version? is this correct?

2. Can not get angry birds to install via Market nor Titanium Backup?

Thanks for all the help

The issue that I am having when I flash froyo is that it says the process of the keyboard is failing and fc's. CWR doesn't work either. I came from the rooted autonooter 1.1 update to froyo. Also browser doesn't work either.

Same thing here. Really really dont want to have to go back to stock.

Hey Will, thanks for these directions. Much appreciated.

Being an idiot and also being unable to follow directions, I updated my brand new Nook to 1.1 and then ran auto nooter. I had some weird stuff going on, the software version was "Unknown" and lots of features didn't work.

I used the clockwork method with used the 2 sdcard method (one to boot, one to flash the 1.0.1 zip).

Thanks for your help again. This is a great resource.

Edit: Actually it looks like I posted this in the wrong thread. Ummm... regardless, thanks for your work ;-)

I installed this on my nook successfully but I'm having so much trouble trying to get google apps on it. Can someone please help? I am using a mac. I tried the adb process but it keeps saying the command not found. Can someone list step by step directions for me mac or pc since I have windows 7 on boot camp. Thanks in advance

EDIT: Nevermind its working now

Same.

Also my market is missing lots of apps. Zeam, dolphin hd, adw launcher. None of those were there. Neither pocket legends or angry birds would install either.

Too bad. My first quadrant score was nearly 1400 on stock kernel.

I believe to see all market apps we have to follow the directions to update the buildprop fingerprint id or something?

I have been following this thread since before it went to a flashable zip and i have been hesitant to try it out. How is it for MOST people who install it? I have seen the posts about this and that not working, which worries me, but i don't see the posts from people who have used it and had it work right away with no issues. Has this happened for any of you? Right now i am running the 1.1 with stock 2.1 rooted and it works like a charm, but i miss flash and would like to get some overclocking in too. So anyone flash and have it working and really love it?

Thanks!

You can overclock on rooted nook and 1.1.0 update. At least I did. But what is meant when you say that you miss flash? What does flash do for you? Can we not get flash on the rooted version? I am still a tech noobie and I am trying to learn everything I can.

Same thing happened to me. I restored my Nook to the factory default and did the 2.2 froyo installation using the first method (last time i used the second). everything installed fine, and i pushed google apps with adb. also used adb to push button savior to device. market still wasn't working for me (unsuccesful downloads), so i tried putting an SD card into it. initially it said SD card was damaged and couldn't format it. i shut the nook down, and now it won't power up (same problem i had last time). using a 32gb class 10 micro SD card from wintertec. dunno if that matters. Nook won't turn on, but if i put a froyo sd card in it'll boot back up so i can restore it again.

probably giving up on the 2.2 internal froyo. tried 2.2 froyo on my class 10 microsd card, but it never boots. just says android with blinking cursor and never loads.

Same here, I install nookie to internal memory and got market to work after mounting an SD card. Then i applied the Market footprint fix and now it will not turn back on

I meant Flash for websites. I know they have have it working in 2.2, even if it is a bit choppy, but something is better than nothing!

I am not a newb, but I have never tampered with adb or sdk. I would love to flash this 2.2 internal, however, I'm somewhat uncomfortable with having to get Gapps after through sdk/adb. Can anyone help? Possibly some step by step? I understand this is a pain for whoever that helpful soul is, but it is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
