As a lot if people do, I like to listen to music. But it annoys me that I have to be in the app to listen to the music, else it stops. I've tried finding an answer to this, but all of the articles suggest using Google Music or YouTube Red, neither of which I would like to use. I've also tried some apps, but I couldn't get them to work. It seems like no one has a straight answer if you can or cannot.

Device info:
Samsung Galaxy A5 ;
SM-A500FU
Android 6.0.1
Rooted: Yes

Which music app are you using?

The stock music app on my LG G4 will minimize to the notification bar and keep playing until it is closed from the notification bar. I would expect this behavior from most of the big name music apps.

Ah, YouTube.
YouTube purposely disables this feature so that you will subscribe to their YouTube Red service, if I remember correctly.

There is a bug I found in YouTube by accident that gets around this, at least temporarily. As it's a bug in the official app and not pirating in the sense of using an illegal app, I'm not sure if I can give the details. If a mod wants to ok it, I'll give the work around.
