How to prevent apps from returning to device memory after updates

Everytime my apps get updated the installation defaults to the device memory

Welcome to Android Central! That's pretty standard, I believe, because when an app installs, it has to download and install to Internal Storage first. So if you have an app that's moved to SD card, and you update it, the system will have to move the app to Phone Storage first, and then download and install the update. As far as I know, there's no way to automate moving it back to SD after the update.
