Hello All,

Of late I am seeing a huge drop in battery on my new Galaxy Nexus & I have observed that the culprit here is Google Services.

The google services includes various google services like:

Google services Framework
Google Play Services
Google Account Manager
Google Contacts Sync
Google Bookmarks Sync
Network Location

These are basic essential services and are using 73% of total battery consumption.
I have already disabled Google Now, stopped Location access features but I see no drop in battery drain.

Has anyone else faced this issue before?

make the time that everything syncs greater. Instead of syncing every hour, bump it to 2 or whatever.

If what you are saying is right though, something is off. Screen time should be the top drainer.

Hello piizzadude,

Thanks for the reply.

Actually I have disabled Google Sync as well. I am running Android version 4.2.1.

Please help..

I wish that I had some good news for you but apparently that is a know issue for 4.2.1 (play services killing battery). I would go back to whatever you were on before that update...

i am sure someone else will jump in with some other help if you can wait it out.

Define "huge drop". If the phone is just sitting in your pocket, the biggest drain will be Google services. If you are playing games, reading email and such the biggest drain will be the screen time. The % you see is just a reference since the last full charge. If you are not actively using the phone the highest % will be background services. Now, if you are saying you left the phone alone after a full charge and a few hours later you only had 27% of a charge left there is a problem.

go to maps-->settings-->location access-->uncheck report from this device.

reboot. all should be back to normal. disabling Google now wont have much impact.

reboot is important.

I get the same issue from time to time.

I have the same problem on my EVO LTE after the JB update. I have disabled everything and it is still draining everything. Is it the play store that is draining everything and I can't find a way to turn that off?

hi i fixed that bug by "going to synchronizations and turning on those emails syncs"
2nd thing i did was dloading an app called DS battery saver which allowed the android system to go to sleep mode....and i think that was the problem...even with the screen off it consumed even more battery then on.

Sounds like the phones syncing too often causing battery drain. Try a program such as Green Power to delay the syncing.

I've had this problem for many months.

I have noticed that the two google services that drain my batter are a) maps which wakes the phone and also enables gps. This is kind of strange since I have disable all sorts of location sharing from maps.
b) contacts. This is totally weird. As if there is a bug in one or more of my contacts and phone keeps erroneously syncing stuff..
