How to remove music controls and show notifications on lock screen?

I'm on an S7 running Oreo. I tried to disable music controls on my lock screen through settings > lock screen > facewidgets, but it still persists and overrides Spotify's native lock screen controls. Furthermore, all of my notifications show up as small icons at the bottom of my lock screen, even when the show notifications setting is enabled, and hide content and show icon only are disabled.

On my Android 8 phone, the music player controls on the lock screen is 1 of 3 sets of controls that can be scrolled through. Notifications is one of the three also.

Are we talking about the same thing?
