Ok so i followed the instructions here: How to: Create a Full Nandroid Backup on a DROID X - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog except for I switched out for the droid 2. Ran bootstraper, rebooted, and created the backup. So my question is, if I should screw something up, and I can't boot, how would I load up the backup? Is there a way to get back into the bootstraper without running the app from my fully booted phone?

As long as your phone can boot past the m logo boostrap will work if not then you will need an sbf just google search droid2 sbf and you should find a link to one. And just to be clear if you bootloop bootstrap will initiate and load you into the modded recovery

If you need to access you backups from a borked phone that is not booting up. If you flash the bootstrap which you've done it will open up the recovery after 1, 2, or 3 boot attempts. From their you can go to "backup and restore" then to "advanced restore" and choose the backup you'd like to restore.
