How to retrieve deleted pictures (Samsung Galaxy S3)

[Android Central Question]

My mom's Samsung Galaxy S3 (I know old) reset by itself. Her contacts are still there but her photos aren't. Her texts are gone, and wallpaper was set to default. I don't know if it was a glitch, but she's especially sad over the photos lost (she's had this phone with all her memories on it forever). How can I recover the photos?

Welcome to Android Central! If they weren't saved to the SD card or backed up somewhere, then they're pretty much gone. If she has an SD card, see if the photos are there. Also, go to photos.google.com on her computer browser and see if any of her photos are there.

Never rely on your phone as the sole storage for important data, like precious photos. Phones don't last forever, and you can never predict when it might fail or get crunched under a bus or something.
