How to retrieve pics

[AC Question]

So my mom accidentally dropped her phone in the trash can and the trash people got it and now it's destroyed. I feel so bad though because she had pics of us from three years ago and she doesn't think she has any way of getting them back. I just wanted to know if there was some way to get them back. Any ideas please?

Did she back up her pictures using Google Photos or any other cloud storage?

If the phone can still turn on. Plug to a computer and see if it will recognize it. Then just transfer the files. If not then i dont know. Also if she had the pics on an sd card then just remove it.
