[How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD, using KP500 (Diag mode)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Thanks, got it worked out. Got a question, posted in Drew's ROm thread.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Thanks, had custom recovery. Did wipe/factory reset form recovery menu, format boot/system and restored nand backup. Everything back and running. Base-band shows unknown again though. it working nevertheless. Thanks again :D

The baseband version in the stock ROMs is essentially just a string hard-coded into the ROM. It doesn't actually query the baseband for the actual version. That makes it deceptive because you could be running any baseband and that particular ROM would always print the same thing. It is better to have it say "unknown" so there is less confusion.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I think I'm totally screwed. I followed the steps and now the phone is stuck at the android loading screen, and when I tried to go back and try installing it again (to see if that would work), it's stuck at 35% while checking the model.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Can you boot into recovery?

Removed USB cable, remove battery cover/battery, wait 5 seconds, replace battery/cover, simultaneously press and hold [Power][Vol Dwn][Menu] until Recovery comes up.

If you are running V9 recovery on new LCD your screen might just be blank.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

header_bg.gif was not found?

I installed the lg support tool. I installed it 3 times now and I keep getting the same error.

Are you on windows 7?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

It flashes correctly (LG tool says update complete! with no errors along the way) but I have absolutely no display. I just got a refurb today with 2.3.3 on it. Wanted to root and rom but I cant see **** on the phone. any thoughts?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Are you on windows 7?

Yes, but I enable signed drivers with prompt. I thought maybe that was why I kept getting the error every time I try to run it.

This is the error I keep getting:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LGMOBILEAX\image\header_bg.gif was not found

Is there something wrong with the LG tool? I tried installing it from the admin account as well. It seems like it installs fine. Is there a different reason for the above error?

Edit: I don't want to root. I want my phone to go back to stock so I can get the repairs I need from the sprint store.

I believe there are some permission issues somewhere between the LG tool and how some windows 7 accounts are configured. It may be that or something else. I never got a chance to look that closely at the problem because I don't have a Win7 box handy, but people have gotten it to work. I just don't recall the specific tips to get it working off the top of my head. When I get back later I'll try to look into it more closely.

Ok, I refreshed my memory a little. As an aside, if you have access to an XP machine, you might want to try installing on there. It'll be easier.

First uninstall anything you see that says LG (or system restore to the point before you started doing all this). When you are done, reboot your PC.

Next thing to do is make sure you have the drivers installed properly from here:
http://www.lg.com/us/support/mc-support/drivers/LGLS670.zip

You need to disable signed drivers per instructions in the first post. Also do everything in xp compatible mode from the beginning. There are 3 sets of drivers to install. I think Mobile Updater just needs the two smallers ones, but you'll need the whole set to run adb.

Do not continue until you can verify that you can enable USB debugging on the phone and connect using adb.

Once you have that working, we'll try installing LG mobile tool.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

A huge thanks. I'm not sure if your instructions worked. I was busy re-installing vista and then ran the update without problems.

From your steps it would seem the only thing I missed was getting rid of all LG things and to do everything in xp compatible mode.

I actually didn't have any problems with the adb part of it. That was in step one on the "simple" version of returning to stock.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Went through all the steps. Everything seems good. At step 3R LG Mobile Support says "Completed". Phone stuck at "Android" for over 20 minutes. Won't go to home screen. Re-ran everything. Same results. Android screen flickers every once in a while. Computer still sees phone. Command prompt still says "Loading", Last few lines on LG Mobile Support:
11:24:28 : CleanModelDll() : Free Model.dll
11:24:28 : _DetachDLL Call
11:24:28 : _DetachDLL Call End
11:24:28 : FreeLibrary Call
11:24:30 : FreeLibrary Call End
11:24:31 : Step : S/W Upgrade Complete!

It's now 11:46. No home screen. Any ideas? I'm new to this and may have missed something.

As long as the upgrade says completed. See if you can boot into recovery and do a factory reset.

Instructions are in this post:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...-vd-using-kp500-diag-mode-41.html#post1271078

If you have the new LCD and recovery is showing blank screen, there are some pictures in this thread to help you do the factory reset blind (don't worry that it is a ZVH thread, the factory reset is the same):

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I went through the entire process of reverting, and it said COMPLETE - the phone rebooted , heard the sprint startup jingle, now nothing displayed. No display to re-enable usb debugging mode so when I plug it into the usb, windows can't detect the device.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Which version did you revert to? If you have the new LCD, you'll get nothing on the screen if you revert to V9. See if you can boot into recovery.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I reverted back to LS670V9. Can't get into recovery. Blank screen. The back light comes on, but nothing displayed.

I think you have the new LCD. You should revert to LS670ZVD. Can you still do that?
