How to root DL09

Dont pull, it, do the following, obviously make sure its in debug mode and stay awake is on.

Then go to
Settings>USB settings and mass storage.

now go to the start root file, right click on it and hit edit.

this will open up notepad

find the line that says "adb reboot" add a line by hitting enter once and type in pause so it should be this transition

adb reboot
PMSLEEP 100

to

adb reboot
pause
PMSLEEP 100

after you have made this change save the file and close it
then start root again

just let it run, dont pull the cord

It won't let me edit it - when I right click it, it only pops up the window asking me to run it...

I pulled the plug on the phone as soon as it rebooted and then I let let it boot back up and I unlocked the phone and then plugged it back in. Worked for me the first time I tried it.

I wish that would work for me, but before my phone can go through it's sd scanning and media scanning, the command window is already reading device not found. I've also tried plugging it in before it was done with all the scanning, but then I just get the device error too. I guess I'm off to do it the manual way.

Haha, very funny :-) I'm running XP. The only options I have are Run or Cancel when I right click the start_root.bat file

was your phone in USB storage or did you have to change it???,,, if it was, try and run it again but dont pull the cord. just lget it run

i need to shower, ill grab my sisters laptop after and try to edit that changed file and we can try that if this keeps failing

It was in mass storage and I did also try to just let it run through without unplugging it - didn't work. I'm in the middle of the manual method now, waiting on rage.bin to reset adb, so it sounds like I'll be waiting on that for awhile, but fingers crossed that this will finally work :-)

Your manual method worked perfectly and it only took less than 10 minutes to complete the entire process. Ya! Rooted once again! Phew!! Thank you, thank, thank you - I simply can not have an unrooted phone! I could not believe how slow and laggy and horribly annoying this phone was once I unfroze all the bloat and unrooted it for this update! About 10 minutes of this thing being updated and not rooted was all I could take! Now that it's rooted and no longer bloated once again, it seems to be a lot zippier than it was before! Although, I have been unable to get a lock on gps at all since the update and had no problems with it before - hopefully I can get that figured out....

Edit: Finally got the GPS to lock and it does it in seconds now which is definitely an improvement, but it has me out in my backyard, whereas before it would take a minute or so to lock, but always had me spot on to my location. Oh well, there are too many things that I am liking about the update, so its not a big deal to be a little off. At least I was able to get rooted again - that's the most important thing! :-)

awsome, im glad it worked, i am going to try to see if i can learn enought to write the manual method as a batch file

I think I finally did it!! "restarting phone, complete" finally showed up on the CMD screen and Superuser is showing up in app drawer. I'm assuming this means I rooted my phone, this was my first time attempting a root.... and on that note, what do I do now? lol

This method does not work for a lot of folks, that is why we have to pull the usb after the phone shuts down, and plug it back in after you unlock the screen.

This method hasn't been tried yet. Neither of the downloads have it.thats why I was telling her how to edit the file to test it. I modified a version of it today but my winzip keeps failing so I could not compress and up load.....i understand its not working for people that's why we're trying to find a solution.

this method worked for me, phone is now rooted. can anyone point me in the right direction on how to install CWM? All the current threads concerning CWM that I found seem to be for people that are not rooted yet

I am getting an error i have yet to see in this thread. My phone was previously rooted b4 the dl09 update. I never received this error last time i rooted my phone, It was able to push all the files and restarted fine. I receive this after it restarts:

Have you tried unplugging the usb port after reboot and plugging it back in after you unlock the screen? Seems to be working for everyone who tries it...

Not everyone..... :-) Tried quite a few methods with one click and none of them worked, but manual went through in minutes.
