For those of you doing the one click method...

My anti virus (Kaspersky) said that the rage.bin file was an exploit for Unix (which it is :). It wanted to
Quarantine the file. I had to disable protection till I finished rooting my phone.

I later made a rule saying that rage.bin was OK

I ran the one click and it completed, but when I go to check if I have root, I keep getting this app needs to have root for it to work. (Barnacle), so I am not sure why it is not still working. any ideas?

Ok folks, I think I got this figured out. Using One Click FascinateRoot_vo2.zip (the new one in the op). I ran the "start root" and was getting the same error that everyone else was getting. To get it to work I ran the same "start root" and when it powered off I unplugged my usb cable and waited for it to boot up, I unlocked the screen, plugged it in and let it sit. Boom! Done! Hope it helps. Do this at your own risk.... Worked for me!

Dan

Wow, I was having the same weird problems and using this method work! Now I'm rooted again...Cheers!!:D

Successfully rooted DL09 with FascinateRoot_v02.zip

I agree with other posters that START_ROOT.BAT isn't quite working
with DL09 - it seems to lose communication halfway through the script.

The minimum change needed is to change PMSLEEP 60 to PMSLEEP 90
(in START_ROOT.BAT)

However, in my case I opened START_ROOT.BAT in a text editor
and copy pasted the lines one at a time into a windows CMD shell
to keep an eye on what happened.

Once I saw that "rage" had executed successfully I was good to go.

I'd be happy to "give some back" by tuning the script with better
error checking: to whom would I submit changes?

Well I posted a link in the op to an edited start root batch. With pm set to 100... But if you can improve upon it send me the info via pm ill test it and post it and ill make sure you get credit :)

With my phone it would lose communication after the script rebooted the phone. After several attempts, I finally noticed that after the reboot the task "Media Synching in progress' was running and the PC would now recognize the phone as a 'CD-ROM' device. Like WTF!

I then tried editting the PMSleep in the batch file to 180 but that didn't work either. So I tried the QuakerDan method of removing the USB cable until the phone rebooted completely then plugging it back it in. The 'Media Synch' task did not start up and the root task then completed successfully...

Sounds like something to do with the media sync starting. It worked for me though, so it doesn't always cause a problem. I did let the phone set a while though. I basically ran it and just watched the command prompt. Didn't do anyhting until prompted.

THE LASTEST ONE CLICK METHOD WORKS PERFECTLY IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES TOTAL TIME.

Download and install this
1) http://www.wikifilez.com/root%20file...Phones_x86.exe

2) go to Settings > Applications > Development > Enable Debugging and Stay Awake, then plug in your phone

3) Download MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
Extract the folder in the zip file to desktop.

4) Run START_ROOT from the extracted folder don't touch the phone until everything is done.

5) Wait patiently for up to 10 minutes. Watch the command prompt and do everything it tells you to do, there is only a couple of things.

6) When all is said and done, unplug your phone and you're rooted on DL09.

Can someone verify that this works for them i will add it to OP.

ALSO i have remove z4Root from OP since it has not proven to work for anyone.

ONCE again ive updated the OP to add
Adviser Adrynalyne's new Clockwork+Root thread
Its pretty oustanding

I got it to work by doing the method where you pull the phone off of the USB plug during the first reboot. However, I'm also having the problem where Root explorer WONT let me rename things, but other apps, like barnacle wifi etc ..., do have superuser permissions.

Any solutions there?

2 things,

1.when you open root explorer at the top there is a button that says mount R/W hit that

2. if that didnt work , uninstall and reinstall root explorer

quick question before I dive into the method from Adrynalyne. Do I need to go back to the stock dl09? Reason I am asking is because I am the one having trouble getting root after the update. My phone still shows that I have superuser, but none of the rooted apps work. Thanks

You shouldnt need to change anything from your current setup. You may need to reflash super user and busybox though before it all works properly.

I am new to all this stuff, so when you say flash, that is using the Odin .exe correct, also do I just follow all the steps from your post?

adrynalyne....sorry for the dumb question, but where is the root of the SD card and the base, or are they one in the same. Also when I ran Odin with the .tar file you had the instructions from Droidxcon stated it should take around 2 minutes, mine flashed in under 30 seconds....did I do something wrong there?

ok all i have on my screen is a little android guy with an exclamation point in a triangle....help
