Hmmm thats weird..harrison..are both buttons grayed out? I.e., "restore" and "restore all"...i don't see how that could happen...but there are other methods on this forum..try those...i only used this one because it was fast and the least amount of steps (maybe 2 or 3)...but I'm sure the other methods should work if your having problems with this one

soooooo. i have been lurking since i found out that rumors were going around that we were going to get ics since august. checking for any info as to when we would get it. when the updatezip file finally showed up after the ota started i registered so i could dl the file and start the update. it worked perfectly. now i wanted root. and now im rooted! sweet! so i just wanted to chime in and say that this worked for me.
very fast the whole process might have taken 5 mins.

just some notes.
lg-ls840. was completely stock. then updated to ics yesterday.
when i did the updatezip, i had installed all the lg drivers on my computer. used the adb recovery method.(so probably need those drivers if you dont have them already)
also had the phone in usb debug mode.
when using this xda program to root, and was prompted for encryption codes i just left them blank and hit the restore button at the bottom.

after the phone rebooted i used the root checker app and according to it im rooted.

thanks for everything AC and thanks to the members that find this info and put it here for me to find!

5th times the charm it seems. I tried a different USB cable (with debugging turned on of course) and this time around, the root took just fine. Thanks for the info.
