HOW-TO root your Sprint Hero (condensed and easy to read version)

If you just want to root step 1 is unnecessary especially if you've already have the drivers that install with HTC Sync well unless I am doing something wrong....

Never mind this stupid comment. Just trying to get 5 effen comments out so I can send an effen PM. This effen sucks. WTF's the point?!!!

K one more question, it says to install USB driver package revision 1 but all I see is revision 3.

Do I use that one?

Hey guys I'm kind of having the same problem some other people have mentioned on here while trying to push the recovery image, it keeps saying "No such file or directory", even though the file name matches exactly. I've tried re-downloading it several times and it still will not work. I'm using a MAC and the 1.2.3 recovery image. Does anyone know what I should do? I'm very new to this rooting business and don't really know what I'm doing, but everything else so far has gone smoothly until this point.

Did you put the recovery image in the tools folder of SDK?

Yep, its in the tools folder of the SDK. I don't know if this matters, but when the file downloads it always says "failed to mount" or something in the downloads window right as its finished. And I made sure debugging was not checked off until after I plugged in the phone and made sure there's no extra file extension on the .img file.

Are you turning off usb debugging?

No I haven't, its still checked off since I plugged in the phone. Am I supposed to turn it off again? To clarify, the option for debugging is currently checked, so its ON as of right now.
