How to Root

Hi guys..

Me again. I've gotten help on this thread before and I'm kinda stressed out about my phone right now. I tried flash my phone back to stock using Odin Restore files to get you to stock - xda-developers. However, whenever I boot my phone now, I always have to go through the set up wizard. I'm not sure what's wrong with it.

Also, when I try to root my phone following the instructions on this thread, I get the same problem Schroeder was getting in post 597. When my phone finally reboots, I go through the set up wizard and my USB Debugging is unchecked. My phone doesn't get rooted.

I still get the "can't mount /dev/block/mccblk0p1" error when I do a factory reset.

Please help. Thank you.

Thanks Shroeder,

I will try that in a bit. I am also seeing 0.00 B on my internal phone memory right now...

i have installed the driver x86 because somewhere online it said that was really for a 32bit. I have a 32bit windows xp. should i unistall and reinstall the driver?

i have a question with mine, i tried the one click root and everything is working fine until i got to the "successfully exploited....deleting temp files."

it got stuck there. i waited more than 30 minutes but nothing happened.
any take on what went wrong?

This maybe a stupid question, but what is the difference between the 64 bit and the 32 bit and which should I use.

Trouble rooting my Fascinate

Did you install the drivers correctly? How about these steps that Dirrk posted:

If you have any troubles running this 1 click root method then please follow these guidelines.
1. Check to make sure you installed the Samsung Drivers
2. Make sure your phone is connected using the original cable that came with the phone
3. Verify that debugging is enabled.
4. Try to run it again
5. If you are receiving errors then your phones drivers were not installed
6. If you are having a different please post here so we can help you.

Finally if you need more immediate help then check on irc.freenode.net #samsung-fascinate

Trying to get root.....These are the error messages I get

Seems to be connected fine..transfers the files...and seems to complete...but can't mount?

Help :(

Step 3. Am I downloading the zip file to my SDCard or PC?
And Run Start_Root is that on my card or from my PC.

Just want to make sure.
Thanks

Driver Installation

I tried installing the 64 bit driver onto my computer but it keeps saying that installation was unsuccessful. Any ideas on whats going wrong?

OK, let's pretend I'm stupid.
Is this really all I need to do at this point? "Run START_ROOT from the extracted folder do not touch your phone from here on out."
Does it do everything else or do I have to enter magic commands somewhere?

The question I'm asking is where are these instructions people are referring to in the thread?

The 32 bit did that to me as well when I tired.
With the device not plugged into the PC, I
un-installed,
rebooted,
re-installed.
Rebooted and my Win7 PC,
plugged in my device and it was (for the first time recognized after about 60 seconds).
