How to stop browser redirect to mobile version websites

How do I stop the browser from redirecting to the mobile version of a website in Motorola Droid?

I've asked this question before. There doesn't appear to be a fix except for lobbying the website to remove the feature.

No, it cant be the website responsible. Blackberry storm can get the full website if you enter the regular web address. But Android redirects to mobile versions -- check out Stock Market News, Business News, Financial, Earnings, World Market News and Information - CNBC.com on both devices and see!

Responsibility must be Verizon's with Google cooperation since I understand there is a setting in the Browser to change from "Mobile view" in Sprint Android phones.

I guess if one wants the real internet, one must stick with Apple or quit doing business with Verizon

Most sites that redirect automatically to Mobile usually have an option to go to the full website, I then save those in my bookmarks, I guess that could be a workaround.

"They" wont "fix it" -- "they (Verizon & Google)" did it intentionally to deny users a real full browser -- apparently Sprint didn't push Google to deny real full Android browser to their customers since there is a setting to choose whether you want redirect or not in Sprint Android phones

Actually you can do this in the browser

1.type "about:debug" in browser address bar
2. Nothing will happen, this is fine
3.go to browser settings (menu button - settings)
4.scroll down to UAString and select "desktop"
5.type desired website into adress bar

And whala, desktop mode

Note: you must repeat steps for each new window or session

Someone should put this in the tips and tricks thread.

Also CyanogenMod has its own User Agent setting that does it for you. The new 5.0.7.1 ROM is the best I've seen them make but its no FroYo.

Or you can get dolphin browser hd & change the settings to desktop mode... Although, even with BB 0.2.1, flash 10.1 isn't recognized/doesn't function...

You can always add /index.html to then end of the URL also to bypass the mobile version.

Depends on the site. Adding /index.html isn't a one-size-fits all solution. It will even lead to a 404 error on some sites.

Some require /index.htm instead. If you give me an example, I'll try it out.

hello, I have a htc Evo 4g and I am also having redirecting issues.

whenever I go the the New York Times website I get redirected to their mobile version.

I tried the "/index.html" and "/index.htm" with no luck.

any ideas?

Get Dolphin Browser HD and you can change the setting to make the site think you are not a mobile device. Hit menu button.... more...
settings... go to user agent and select desktop and the problem is solved.

Now when you click a link to a deep page on a website it will not redirect you to the mobile home page because the server will not think you are a mobile phone. I have no idea why anany site would still think that anyone finds redirection from a deep link of an article to the mobile home page would be at all useful.
