How to stop notification sounds from interrupting music?

I just turn off sound.. If headphones is it u will get ur calls...for everything else u have to keep chkin fone.. Or as suggested b4 hold down volume button turn down the system notifications u don't need...

Thank you so much! The Don't Pause app makes your phone vibrate for notifications without pausing music! Perfect! But then again, you could always just put your phone on vibrate cause that't basically what the app does lol.

I use EuphoriaOS and currently on Android 5.1
There is an option called Prevent audio ducking under Settings -> Notification Manager -> Interruptions
This switch says "Do not reduce media playback volume when a notification arrives"

Device: LG Optimus 4X HD 2012
OS : Euphoria OS, Android 5.1

Thanks,

I'm on the HTC One M8, and I'm not seeing that option. OTOH, I'm only on Android 5.0.1.

To gyroslice;

i was searching for a solution to the same problem and I came across this. I haven't tried it yet but I'm eager to see if it works.

Silence Notifications While Listening to Music with Don't Pause - XDA Forums

This works very well on my S6 and Lollypop.
Thanks!

I've used this with KitKat on my Note 3, and it worked well. But once I upgraded to Lollipop, strange things started to happen. There's two issues.

1. Display timeout doesn't work when music is playing. Meaning, the screen won't turn off. You can test it out by setting the timeout to 15 seconds.
2. Can't raise volume past level 10. Normally, you'd get that warning dialog that you have to press OK in order to raise the volume higher. When Don't Pause is active, the dialog box shows up for a split second then dismisses by itself.

Not sure if you're having these issues. Or if it's specific to the Note 3.

So instead I just use Tasker.
Context: If variable %MTRACK is set
Tasks: Then notification volume = 0.
Exit task: Notification volume = 5.

Easy as pie.

I finally found a solution to my problem here is some info,

i been doing search and can't find the answer

I am using galaxy s5, samsung circle bluetooth headphones

my problem is just like yours, music plays normal , i get notification (mainly a message), music lowers but doesn't raise back up

solution, I believe it's an app and not the android I wish I could post pics, I have the Samsung circle icon in my status bar where the battery is shown, i can access the Samsung circle app aka "samsung gear" through there, on the gear app it has settings, notifications and equalizer, well I went to the notifications and checked off the messages app and wala my problem got fixed, I couldn't believe it because I couldn't find an answer and I hate doing little gimmicks to get the vole back up it was a pretty anoying setting because I just want to jam music

I hope this helps people out

I did see an app at one time in the Google play store that i accidently came across that fixes this problem but can't remember what it was.

Thank you so much for the obvious choice of airplane mode! Missed the obvious after 20 minutes of trial and error! This will help my cause!

I recently switched to Android (Galaxy S6 - Android 5.1.1). I'm horrified by the low user experience - this issue among other things. Previously my phone was Nokia N9 with Meego OS. There music would play normally and uninterrupted if a notification comes. The notification sound would just be mixed in together with the music. It would be very pleasant and you would not miss the notification or any part of the music. This is what I want and what I think Premananda is describing. Now I did not find this setting. Obviously it is part of this Euphoria OS. Did not find that in the Play store so need to dig further. Quite a hassle for a simple setting that is by default set for great user experience in proper mobile operating systems.

This works flawlessly for me - just got to Settings/Sounds and Notifications/Volume. Then slide all sounds you do not want to hear down to Silent. Done!

(In the screenshot you'll see my ringer on because I personally DO want my music interrupted by phone calls only since I'm relaxing but waiting on a call. Set all yours to Silent EXCEPT MEDIA - KEEP THAT TURNED UP to the music volume you want)

Not sure about the samsung app! I use a nexus. If you're using a poweramp Just follow this steps :)
Setting>Audio>Audio focus- uncheck "short audio focus change"
Voila! :D Thank me later :P
PS: not sure if free has it! Mine is paid.

This is the right answer!

For a (Galaxy SIII):

Whether it be walking or running using a pair of wired earbuds, or at my desk with my JBL Flip Bluetooth speakers, everytime a text message, e-mail, Baseball highlight, etc... comes in, the notification sound interrupts the music being played. I like having these notifications on, but is there a way to keep the notification sounds on, yet not have the music interrupted?

Thanks
David...

Now on my moto g 2nd gen with Android marshmallow there is something called " draw over other apps " , I think this would help.

I use and app called Tasker. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...inglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en&token=V-m9Y4My It's about $3 but I use it for lots of different things. Great app.

I set it up so that when my headphones are plugged in, the phone is on "do not disturb". The muting ends when I unplug the headphones. I know there are other methods using Tasker as well, but that's what I do.

Hope that helps.

Do you know if Tasker works the same way you described when using Bluetooth headphones / earbuds?

Thanks,
David

This did the trick for me. I also want to keep my ringer turned up because I listen to podcasts at work and if my boss calls I want to hear that come through, but I don't need my audio interrupted every time a get a Hangouts or text message.

Go to notifications and turn off the notifications For Google play music...easy

I don't think this would work. That would only eliminate notifications from the Google Play Music app itself, so if you get a message from another app that will still come through.
