How to stop Samsung Music from launching automatically.

Ever since updating to Pie and doing a factory reset, every time I get into any vehicle I have paired my phone with, Samsung Music is automatically launched. I can't find a setting in the Bluetooth or Samsung Music settings to stop this. Hopefully it's just something simple I'm missing.

I don't see anything in that app's settings to disable autoplay upon connecting to BT. If you don't use the stock music player at all, you can just go into Settings/App Settings and disable the app completely.

If you don't want to do that, but still prefer a different music player, you should be able to go into that app's settings and set it to automatically open when it connects to a paired BT speaker. I haven't disabled the stock music player and I use DoubleTwist and have it set up to play automatically, so the stock music player never opens on its own.

I had the same issue for three years on my company paid for Work phone, a Note 2. No matter what I did as soon as it connected to Bluetooth the Samsung music app would launch and start playing music. I searched dozens of forums and found hundreds of posts about it. Apparently it was a common issue with Note 2 and 3 phones. Back then I could not disable the app nor uninstall it. I never could find a solution. Hope you can. If you can, I agree with the suggestion to disable Samsung Music and use a different media player app.

I'm experiencing the same issue but it's with the very last audio app I use, that's including Spotify, Tunein Radio and my podcasting app. It's very annoying that I can't find how to stop the automatic play once I start my car. I didn't have problems till the OneUI update. Very strange indeed 🤔

I had this issue before the update and couldn't find a resolution. For me, I just had to keep closing the app, then it would stop...until the next time I listened to music using the Samsung app(usually at home with headphones), then got in the car again. Good luck with this...

Wondered if you ever found a solution. I'm having the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy J7, ever since the latest software update.

Hi, you tried to uninstall and use a different music app?

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10+, which has Pie our of the box. My phone didn't have any music player app preinstalled. I'm currently using Poweramp Pro, which I bought years ago when I had a Moto device. However, VLC Player and Neutron are two other music apps that also work for playing locally stored music files.

It sounds like this Samsung Music app that was preinstalled on your Note 8 is buggy in Pie, which might be the reason why newer Samsung devices no longer have it preinstalled.

I agree with @mustang7757 to uninstall the Samsung Music app and try a different music app.

On the older Samsung phones I had you could not uninstall the Samsung Music app. Maybe some models you can? That's what made the bug so annoying for me, and many others based on the hundreds of posts I read.
