How to Voodoo ***Updated 27 Mar 2011***KERNEL BUILT FROM SOURCE/SOUND/UNDERVOLTED

Install the EC10 zipped file using odin? I thought I had to use recovery to enable lag fix and back up. Or do I just do those steps after I install EC10?

mike, thanks for this post! super easy to enable voodoo, and now i'm rocking the MIUI Rom. love it! question on the voodoo menu: what is the difference between "enable lagfix" and "system lagfix"? i assume system lagfix is for the conversion?

Oh, I see what you're saying now. I need to go back to the previous version of cwm. When using odin to do it will it just overwrite the newer version or will it cause problems?

Officially running on voodoo. Thanks so much for your help! Now off to spend the rest of the day with my phone. =)

Don't forget, if you're gonna flash a non-voodoo kernel now you'll have to go into CWM and disable voodoo lagfix and reboot fully before you flash anything else

just so I am perfectly clear before attempting voodoo...

I am currently on 2.9.1/EC10... can I just flash the voodoo kernel following the steps in this thread?

From what I have read and understand, non-voodoo to voodoo is OK. But voodoo to non-voodoo is not, unless you "un-voodoo" first (disable lag fix)

And a data/dalvic wipe is not nessacary... correct?

Thanks!

all correct sir.

voodoo to nonvoodoo good

Almost forgot... do I need a voodoo ROM paired up with a Voodoo kernel? And if so, which do I flash first?

Negatron. voodoo vs non-voodoo, aka EXT4 file format vs RFS file format, applies to the kernel only.

Vis-a-vis, there is no such thing as a voodoo or non-voodoo ROM. A ROM is a ROM is a ROM........is a ROM. :)

Thats what I had thought, but then I was confused when I was reading DXC's SuperClean Thread at it has links for both voodoo and nonvoodo 2.9 ROM:

ROM:
Non voodoo
super_frankenclean_2_9nv.zip

Voodoo
super_frankenclean_2_9v.zip

why is that?

Those ROMs INCLUDE the kernel so no need to flash the kernel separately. Since you are already on the 2.9 ROM, you just need to switch the kernels to go from nonvoodoo to voodoo

Ahhh... because those are ODIN packages, correct?

no, not necessarily. some of Adrynalyne's recent zips that are CWM flashable have ROM+kernel in them. the embedded script in the zip does the flashing of both parts for you instead of you having to flash them separately.

Gotcha.... well, I am officially now Voodoo'd! Was very simple. Ran Quadrant Benchmark just to make sure... score was almost 1500 :)

AND IT'S NOT DXC'S SUPERCLEAN THREAD, IT'S ADRYNALYNE'S SUPERCLEAN THREAD. HE IS THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GREAT ROMS WE HAVE AND I DO NOT WANT TO SLIGHT HIM OR HAVE ANY CREDIT TAKEN AWAY FROM HIM. Adrynalyne's superclean thread here:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...om-superclean-2-9-1-ea15-eb01-eb16-based.html

DroidXcon takes Adrynalyne's superclean ROMs and combines them with root and the correct modem in the ODIN packages here:

Apologies to both Adrynalyn and DroidXcon for the mix up... and to anyone else who I may have offended in the process
