thats what i just read yes trying to go voodoo im already on the new cwm and SC2.92 but the rom is nonvoodoo so im curious if i need to change rom and kernal or just kernal i understand flashing and wiping and voodoo lagfix change just not clear on the rom/kernel after reading but thanks

EDIT all he says is select rom and flash not if the rom needs to b kernel it almost sounds like just the kernel beeing voodoo will make me voodoo but after i voodoo then roms and kernels need b voodoo just looking for clarification thanks for any

All you need to do is flash the Comavolt kernel in cwm. After flashing, go to voodoo, select enable lag fix, then reboot, wait, wait, wait, and listen to the lady droid voice. ROMs by themselves are not voodoo or nonvoodoo. The ROMs in Gizomdroid's thread contain the voodoo and nonvoodoo kernels. Since you already have the sc 2.8.2 nv ROM from that thread, all you have to do is flash the kernel. The only difference between the voodoo and nonvoodoo sc 2.9.2 ROMs in Gizmo's thread is the kernel.

I did the same thing the first time I ran mount in terminal emulator. Put your finger on the screen and pull down to scroll to the top of the script. That is where it will look like gunner is describing

briguy,
Just wanted to ask how your batt life is. I'm asking cos last night while screen was off for like 7 hrs, my battery lost 5% which is amazing to me.

I was unplugged for 10 hours with moderate off and on use and wifi and bluetooth turned on and i still had 55% left...pretty good i think :)

Downloaded JT'S latest Kernel last night with full batt, woke up this morning still have 97% left. what i did was set screen timeout to 10mins turned off data, wifi,bt, bright screen off too. so far so good issue. Will donate soon. thank you for the hard work

I had NO luck with SetCPU.. Every attempt to set it up ended the same way... Lock up &/or sleep of death requiring a battery pull. I have heard tales of people who can get it to work.. I was never so lucky.

I used it for 48 hours (frustrating hours) - then just gave up. Uninstalled - lesson learned.

I had been using CPU Tuner, mainly cause I didn't want to pay for Set CPU, with good results. Then I found out that there is a free version of Set CPU available to XDA forum members and so I tried it. I got about 3-4 SOD per day while using it. It only happened after the screen was off, I think the CPU just slowed down to much to wake back up. I even tried increasing the minimum speed with no effect. So uninstalled it and went back to CPU Tuner. The nice thing about it is that there are preset profiles and triggers that you can modify, but can use the defaults if you don't want to mess with anything. Right now I'm at 16% after 14h 14m with fairly heavy use, twitter, email, web, a youtube video and some games (non-cpu intensive).

Not bad, the screen off profile really saves your battery IMHO.

Just wanted to pass on my experience.

Edit:
Forgot to add that I'm using Jt's latest kernel from 4/11 and the EC01 radio.

Do you really have to wipe data to go voodoo?

I am on sc 2.9.2, the ec01 radio and JT latest undervolted noon voodoo kernel. I am very curious about going voodoo and see what is like, but what a pain in the a$$ having to wipe data and then having to re install all my apps and re do all of the settings.

I know you have to wipe cache and delvcache before flashing the voodoo kernel, but do you really have to also wipe data?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

No, you do not need to wipe the data. Not sure where you heard that, but its definitely not the case.

Load up a voodoo enabled kernel, enable the lagfix in CWM, and reboot. On boot, the partitions will be converted and you'll hear a little robot voice telling you status. Done.

I have OCD and used to wipe data all the time. Still do actually sometimes. I just feel like I am getting a cleaner build with less chance of anything being left over causing issues that have nothing to do with the latest thing I flash.

You see it all the time. A ROM or theme works great for many and then there is the handful that has issues. These issues are usually due to something being left over from countless flashes and not having a clean build.

You would be doing yourself a great service to get one of the backup programs off the market. Backup your apps (not system data), export your contacts to your SD or have them sync with google, even backup your call history and txt messages if they are important to you.

To be safe also create a nandroid backup before flashing anything new. From here go nuts and wipe data for a clean build and flash away. Restoring backups is easy and you won't need to download all your apps and set them up again.

Just something to think about.

I never cleared cache or d-cache when going voodoo, I wonder if clearing those things ruin ur voodoo and u have to do it again? anyone?

Shouldn't. When you go voodoo it changes the file system like Windows did from Fat16 to Fat32 or NTFS. The kernel needs to be voodoo to read this file system.

Non voodoo is RFS and voodoo is ext4.

Just flashed the voodoo kernel and enabled lag fix. Wiped dalvik and cache but not data. Conversion went fine, phone seems to be running smooth. Thanks all of you for the great advice.

Which voodoo rom did you use? Just curious.

There are no voodoo roms. Just some that come packaged with a voodoo kernel. Just so you know and don't think you have to flash an entire rom to go from one to the other. The kernel alone is all you need.

So... should I be worried about "matching" my numbers up, or no? For example, I'm running Evil Fascination 3.3.1 w/ EC01 modem, and I want a Comavolt kernel, which in the other post is labeled "EC10 Source Built ComaVolt TouchWiz ". Will it work? Or should I just go all gunnermike on it and try for myself? lol
